CHILDREN’SCONNECTIONVBS Open Season

Ok, so odds are you don’t think about this half or even aquarter as often as I do. But, as a Children’s Director, my years aremarked by VBS themes. Before Christmas, I am ordering the VBSstarter kit (ok, Mrs. Tanya orders it for me), and by January, I’m alittle obsessed. In fact, if someone mentions a person, I think, “Ineed to ask her to help with preschool crafts this year- she is sogood with the kids…”

As much as I think about VBS, our sweet, sovereign Godthinks about it more (and He has incredible foresight). Yesterday,through two conversations, He proved that long before I startplanning VBS; He already has it under control. At Wednesday nightdinner, a young mother called me over to chat with her. In the midstof our conversation, she told me that she wanted to serve in VBSagain this year and that I could put her wherever I needed her. Andthen Dianne Jordan (my VBS right arm, brain, and recruiterextraordinaire) and another mother were conversing. Dianne (verycasually and suavely) asked if the mother was creative and crafty.Receiving an affirmative, she asked if the mother would considerleading crafts for the older children during VBS this year. Themother responded: “I will consider it. I’ve been praying about whatGod wants me to do for VBS, and I wonder if this is it.” Praise Godfor the blessing of being in a church whose members (and thereare so many more just like these two ladies) have hearts like that.

VBS season is now open. Would you please join me inpraying that God would work in and through our church familyduring VBS to reach children for Christ and to expand His kingdomhere in Natchez, MS? And then, would you ask Him where Hewants you to serve and come let me know?

Prayer Ministry Challenge“Brothers, pray for us.” 1 essalonians 5:25

God honors the prayers of His people. What a privilege to pray for our ministerial staff at First Baptist Church. In December we issued the30 day challenge to pray specifically for our pastor.

For the month of January we issue the challenge to pray for our associate pastor, Dallas Dykes. Dallas is committed to God and His greatestdesire is to serve our Lord. Let us pray that he will have discernment, wisdom and strength as he follows God’s will.
