CHILDREN’S CONNECTION VBS Open Season Ok, so odds are you don’t think about this half or even a quarter as often as I do. But, as a Children’s Director, my years are marked by VBS themes. Before Christmas, I am ordering the VBS starter kit (ok, Mrs. Tanya orders it for me), and by January, I’m a little obsessed. In fact, if someone mentions a person, I think, “I need to ask her to help with preschool crafts this year- she is so good with the kids…” As much as I think about VBS, our sweet, sovereign God thinks about it more (and He has incredible foresight). Yesterday, through two conversations, He proved that long before I start planning VBS; He already has it under control. At Wednesday night dinner, a young mother called me over to chat with her. In the midst of our conversation, she told me that she wanted to serve in VBS again this year and that I could put her wherever I needed her. And then Dianne Jordan (my VBS right arm, brain, and recruiter extraordinaire) and another mother were conversing. Dianne (very casually and suavely) asked if the mother was creative and crafty. Receiving an affirmative, she asked if the mother would consider leading crafts for the older children during VBS this year. The mother responded: “I will consider it. I’ve been praying about what God wants me to do for VBS, and I wonder if this is it.” Praise God for the blessing of being in a church whose members (and there are so many more just like these two ladies) have hearts like that. VBS season is now open. Would you please join me in praying that God would work in and through our church family during VBS to reach children for Christ and to expand His kingdom here in Natchez, MS? And then, would you ask Him where He wants you to serve and come let me know?
