Saturday 15 July to 23 JulySubmit entries to Buckingham Library

Photographic Competition

To be Judged by the Buckingham Camera Club and Warren Whyte of Flaneur.

Buckingham Town Council is holding a photographic competition which is open to all amateur photographers. The theme will be ‘Aspects of Community’. Photos are to be taken between 15th and 23rd July and submitted to Buckingham Library for judging by 4pm on Wednesday 26th July. Judging will take place on Saturday 29th July, time to be confirmed.

The photos will be displayed in the library and entrants name, age and contact details must be clearly written on the back of the entry. Up to 3 entries per person.

Age categories are Adults, Young Photographer (11-17 yrs) and children (under 11 yrs).

Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category.

Saturday 15 July, 7pm–10pmThe Community Centre, Cornwall’s Place, Buckingham

Family Quiz NightOrganised by Buckingham Town Council and sponsored by The Woolpack and The Kings Head.

Bring your family and friends and take part in a family quiz night. There will be prizes for the winning team and a children’s round. There will also be a raffle during the break.

Entry fee £10 for a team of 6. Individual person £2 to be made into a team of 6 on the night. Under 12’s free. Platter of food per table included. Bring your own drinks.

Sunday 16 July, 10am–2pmBourton Park, Buckingham

Buckingham Dog ShowOrganised by Buckingham Town Council this popular event takes place in the paddock in Bourton Park. There will be 8 classes with the winners of each class going through to Best in Show. Registration starts at 10am with judging from 11am. There will be prizes for the winners of each class.

Sponsored by Arden Grange, Leaders Letting & Estate Agent, Vets 4 Pets and The Vet Centre, Maids Moreton.

Monday 17 July – Monday 21 AugustChandos Park: 5.30pm and Bourton Park: 6.45pm

FREE Turn Up and Play Basketball SessionsFree basketball sessions will once again be offered for young people. Starting Monday 17th July, hour long turn up and play sessions will be taught by Coach Jenner a qualified coach and his assistant. All equipment will be provided.

Young people aged 8-12 yrs can attend the sessions at Chandos Park at 5:30pm and young people from 13 yrs and up can attend the Bourton Park sessions.

Cream Teas and Music at Villiers HotelVilliers Hotel will once again be offering an afternoon of cream teas and music.

The music will be supplied by ‘Prosecco Notes’ (flute and violin duo, consisting of sisters Camilla and Lucy). All cream teas are subject to a 10% discount on production of this brochure.

Youth Project FREE ENTRYNow in its 10th year, the Youth Project is a joint project with the Royal Latin School and Buckingham School. The two schools come together for an evening of art and drama. This provides a huge scope for ideas both intense/deep and dramatic as well as thought provoking.

The event is open to members of the public.

The Oxford Fiddle Group

The ever popular Oxford Fiddle Group returning to Buckingham again for the Fringe Week. The OFG performs songs and tunes mainly from England and Scotland, but also from Ireland and the USA. Some players also play other instruments besides the fiddle, so a typical line up for an OFG performance could include celtic harp, double bass, guitar, mandolin and concertina.
