  • History of Bubble Wraps Talking about the history of bubble wrap the birth of bubble wrap is itself quite bubbly. Back in 1950s two American scientists were trying to make a 3 dimensional plastic however their experiment was a failure and during this so called mishap bubble wrap was produced as a by-product which is one of the most popular packaging material today.
  • Bubble wrap is commonly made from polyethylene i.e. LDPE film. Here is a short summary of how is it manufactured. The second sheet is then moved onto the first one. As a result the air is trapped in the bubbles and bubbles are finally ready for use. With the help of suction these bubbles are formed on the sheet uniformly. The polyethylene resins resembling the size of the pea are taken into extruder. The extruders are long cylinders with a series of screws fitted inside. How is Bubble Wrap Manufactured? Once the beads are inside, the screws are made to run over the beads. During this process heat is built inside the extruder as a result of which these beads melt down. One of the sheets is placed on a drum with holes engraved in it. The melted material is taken out from the cylinder and moved between 2 stacked sheets of plastics.
