For over 30 years, The Bridge of Northeast Florida, Inc. has provided comprehensive services to Jacksonville’s most at-risk children, adolescents and their families, addressing their academic, health, social enrichment, intensive case management, job skills, and employment needs through innovative in-house programs and partnerships with community organizations. The organization also found itself contending with external demands to adopt a more sophisticated data system, with demands from funders for more in depth data on programs outcomes and impact, and the nonprofit sector at large becoming more data-driven.

“As the agency grew and the program and services became more integrated and complex, our simple spreadsheet data collection systems were not cutting it. We found that solution in ETO software.” -Zoe Ann Boyle, The Bridge of Northeast Florida, Inc.

A Comprehensive Software Solution for Holistic Youth & Family Services

Through a partnership with the United Way of Northeast Florida, The Bridge adopted Efforts to Outcomes (ETO®) software in 2012 to meet its data management needs for all main campus programs and several off-site programs.

The ETO system provided staff with a user-friendly, centralized system that eased data input processes and ensured participants were provided with a continuum of services across all programs, partner organizations and ancillary services.

“Now with ETO software, The Bridge staff have the ability to pull up a student file, and, in an instant, have in one place all of the information about activities, services received and progress within our programs and any extenuating circumstances that may be affecting them. It is immeasurably more convenient and efficient than anything we’ve had before,” Boyle said.

By making participant data more complete and accessible, the ETO system allowed Bridge program staff to quickly identify and respond to participant issues. This capability has been especially integral to The Bridge’s Early Warning Response System (EWRS) program, a program delivered at Andrew Jackson High School that aims to increase graduation rates by monitoring and responding to early warning indicators of dropout.

Along with intake data and documentation of services, EWRS staff tracks student school attendance on a daily basis in ETO software. When a student is tardy or absent from school, EWRS responds on an almost immediate basis, notifying parents and providing other intervention services to ensure student absenteeism does not escalate. This immediate response system is used in a similar manner with student demographics—if an issue arises with student grades, EWRS program staff can quickly identify it in ETO software and take immediate corrective action, involve parents and refer students to academic support services.

“ETO software has helped us unlock the potential in our program data. We are really looking forward to the coming years, working toward mastering our data input, and using it to advance The Bridge’s services and programs,” Boyle said.

“ETO software allows us to see on a daily basis how our students are progressing and respond almost immediately to anything that may be going wrong, ultimately making our interventions more impactful and helping us provide the highest level of services we can to our students. Without a system like this, delivering a program like EWRS would be incredibly difficult.”
