Introduction You could see the starry moon
in the night sky, the clouds were floating like
they didn’t have a care in the world. Her silky
brunette hair was flowing through the
moonlight, her eyes where shining bright like
the moon in its beautiful blue essence. But her
tears were flowing like a water fall at its most
powerful moment. My child I will love you
until the end of time but you will never know
who you truly are.
CHAPTER 1
In the south suburbs of Alice Springs, he
yawned as he got out of bed his vision still
fuzzy from waking up; he brushed his red hair
out of his face. He stumbled down the
apartment stairs after getting ready.
He slowly walked over to his neighbour’s
café. The café looked the same as usual with
emerald green vines hanging down and its
beautiful potted plants out the front. Harry
walked inside the café and saw the usual
cashier with brown flowy hair. She seems
nice, but definitely not his type. He took a sip
of his coffee, and enjoyed the warmth. He
took his coffee with him to his book store and
started to drink it there. He loved books it was
his favourite thing in the world apart from
coffee.
CHAPTER 2
Later that day Harry went into the café next
door to sit and have some lunch.
“I’ll have my usual “said Harry to Sarah.
“Coming right up” said Sarah. While Sarah is
preparing lunch Harry notices a flier on the
billboard.
“Sarah what is this flyer about?”
“Oh, it’s just a game show in town that I
decide to enter on Tuesday. “Replied Sarah.
Harry got a brilliant idea; he was going to
enter too!
On Monday morning Harry went to the
convention centre to go enter in the
competition.
“Where do I sign up for the competition?”
Exclaimed Harry
“Right here sweetie “said the competition
Manager
After the sign in, Harry ran back to the Café to
tell Sarah the good news!
CHAPTER 3
Competition day!
Sarah and Harry have arrived at the
convention centre ready for the big day. They
walked through the reception area and saw
lots of people lined up to sign in, so they
joined the back of the line. “It has been quite
hot and dry lately hasn’t it?”
”Yeah!”Said Harry worriedly
“I wonder if one of us will win?” wondered
Sarah.
“Yeah! That will be life changing” replied
Harry. When they got to the front desk the
young posh lady with the golden necklace that
now had a zigzagged dress on, welcomed
them to the show. “Hello, welcome to the
show! Today we will be playing the simple
game Pillow War! Good luck everyone, have
fun!” Off they went into the audience and
waited for their name to be called up onto the
stage. It felt like forever until Harry’s name
finally got called up. ‘Young man, please sit
down on the chair and grab your controller.
The cameras were rolling and One of the
audience members yelled out ‘HI MUM’ and
Harry felt a pang of jealousy .The game
beeped as Harry realised the game was starting
.He stared into the screen and everything went
silent and he started doing the thing he loved
most. He moved the controller with such
speed that everyone was amazed he even
could. [That’s my boy]That when the beep
came to the end he realised that he had won!
That day whenever he passed someone they
would pat him on the back or give him thumbs
up, Harry loved the attention he was getting.
The next day no one was giving him any
attention he was just the same old Harry it had
all blown over, it was yesterday’s news. The
only person who hadn’t forgotten about it was
Sarah. She seemed to remember it like it was
yesterday! Oh yeah it was yesterday, anyway
she was really mad like really, really mad! She
didn’t want to talk about it and she didn’t even
want to talk to him! She was usually so
talkative. Harry thought to himself “well if
she’s not going to talk to me I’m not going to
talk to her.”
CHAPTER 4
There wasn’t much water in the ground to
supply the whole town. Harry was feeling a bit
awkward in the heat. Sarah was serving
thirsty customers at her café. She was running
low on water for the coffee and tea. Thirsty
customers kept on coming all afternoon. Harry
was getting thirsty too so he decided to go to
the café but not talk to Sarah. They both stood
there like they never knew each other, then
Harry asked Sarah if he could have cup of
coffee in a very nasty voice. She said that there
was no water left. But Harry didn’t believe
her.
“You’re just saying that to get rid of me!”
“No, I’m not! There’s honestly no water!”
exclaimed Sarah.
“Look on the news!”
Harry and Sarah discovered that there was a
drought in the Alice Springs area.
The news was spreading quickly around town
Children were crying
People were started to get panic attacks
And going to hospital but without the water
there was no medicine to go around to
everyone.
People were getting flown out of town, Harry
and Sarah just hid in their small apartments
hoping someone would visit them and supply
them with water. Two days past and still no
one had visited them. Harry decided to go
outside and look for something to drink he got
up and walked out of his apartment. When he
got outside he saw Sarah standing beside her
shop she looked devastated, her shop was
ruined. Harry knew that Sarah had put so
much work into that shop. Suddenly Harry
found himself walking over to her then talking
to her! He had given up on not talking to her
“So have you had any customers today” asked
Harry. Harry looked at her; she knew
something that he didn’t.
CHAPTER 5
Harry asked Sarah what was happening in the
town she said “they’ve all evacuated without
us!”
Harry looked at her in disbelief but she wasn’t
joking around. Suddenly they felt the ground
shake Sarah shouted “RUN!” And pushed
Harry out the way but Sarah wasn’t quick
enough and she fell through a giant crack in
the floor. Harry was frozen in shock as Sarah
was hanging from a small ledge. It was
breaking and breaking fast! Harry had a
decision he could save Sarah and earn her
trust or he could not save her and let her fall
through the crack and his problem would be
resolved. Harry thought about it as Sarah
screamed he finally decided as Sarah fell he
grabbed her arm pulled her up, and she was
saved.
After that Harry went back to Sarah’s place
and they tried to figure out how to find water,
there ideas were pretty bad until Sarah had an
amazing idea, she heard a rumour that if you
dig deep enough in the Todd River, you can
find water. By the time they got to the river
they were pretty thirsty as you would think.
They started digging and in about two minutes
of digging they found water they got few cups
and filled them up, they took a few minutes to
drink the water was relatively clean because
the rocks washed the water.
‘AAHHH! That was so good’ exclaimed
Harry. With their bellies full of water they
walked back to the town with a bucket full of
water.
CHAPTER 6
They needed a plan if there were ever going to
see civilization again! They took hours and
hours just to think of one plan. They looked at
each other than they looked out the window
and suddenly something burst out of the
ground it was water! It was coming from the
holesign in dug in the river and it was
spreading fast and it was filling up a small part
of the Todd River they had an idea but it was
risky. They ran down to the river and collected
all the things they needed that included: sticks,
big logs, leaves, old wood from Harry’s
bookshop, paper coffee, Harry’s bedsheets and
flouties and noodles from the local pool.
What did they need all this stuff for? For a
boat, of course, the river stretches a long way
so they thought if they can build a boat
because the river was filling up they could sail
along the river and back to civilization,
woohoo!
After they had collected all the supply’s they
started to construct the boat. First they made
the base of the boat and then they made the
bow and the sail. After about an hour they
have finished, it was beautiful they stood back
and gazed at the boat in all its glory.
CHAPTER 7
They needed supplies so each of them ran
back to the apartment to get what they needed
and there most treasured belongings, Sarah
grabbed her water bottle, jumper and teddy
bear (Cuddles). While Harry went back and
got his beers, his laptop and a photo of his
mother before she died. When they got back to
the boat they looked at each other and Sarah
said “Are you ready?” Harry replied with
“Ready as I’ll ever be!”
“Then let’s go!” she said
“Ok!” Harry said excitedly.
Then they both got on board the SS Bubbles
(the boats name). Wobbling as the boat tipped
side to side unstable; when they were comfy
they started to row with the noodles they got
from the local pool. (What’s wrong with
rowing with noodles?) Anyway they were
rowing at a good speed, until the boat started
picking UP speed it was getting faster and
faster and it was getting hard to steer, the wind
was getting stronger and they saw a BIG dip
coming up ahead. They were stressing out so
they doubled their noodle power by getting
two more noodles and to their surprise, it
worked!
When the wind was calming down and the
boat started to slow down the found that BIG
dip was just a tiny little dip that was nothing to
worry about.
CHAPTER 8
By the time they had completely calmed down
about that traumatizing experience the sun
was setting and it was getting dark. They were
both smiling and they were quite happy that
they survived the drought and they were on
their way to start again.
The two were just sitting there starring at the
beautiful sunset when Harry realised that he
truly loved Sarah she was beautiful with her
long brown hair flowing in the wind and her
big blue eyes and her perfect smile
He decided he was going to tell her but then
he chickened out. But then unexpectedly she
told him something he will NEVER forget
“Do you want……some chips?” (Nooooo!)
“Just kidding do you want to be my
boyfriend?” (Yes!!!)
Of course Harry said yes!
As they were leaning in to kiss the boat
wobbled and tipped over and they got trapped
under the boat. They were panicking; they
didn’t know what to do. Just as the water was
rising a bright light blinded them, they realised
they were floating when they could see once
more they saw a beautiful angel she said that
she was Harry’s mother. At first they didn’t
believe her but then Harry took the photo of
his mother out of his pocket he held it up next
to her, he looked for a while then he realised it
was true she was his mother.
Dear reader,
Harry’s mother, the angel, is truly and will
always be… Me. Yes that angel is really me,
I’m Harry’s mother and I’m the one who’s
been telling the story the whole time, and I’m
about to continue it.
After they had figured out that I had been
watching them for all these years just waiting
for this moment to happen I had put them
down and had flown back to heaven. I
watched them leaning in and you know what’s
happening next… they kissed.
WILL THEY MAKE IT BACK?!
To be continued….
