Panther Basketball Teams Close Out Season Playoff Losses Bring End to Exciting Season Campaigns
Both Panther basketball teams suffered playoff losses last
week, closing out an exciting season of roundball action.
Boys
The boys lost to Poth 69—58 in a Bi-District playoff
match played last Tuesday night in Seguin.
“We came out strong in the first quarter, but let Poth get
going in the second, and that momentum helped them to sus-
tain the lead for the rest of the game,” said head coach Der-
rick Hernandez.
Junior Nick Sampeck scored 32 points in the contest,
backed up by Noah Wheeler and Jacob Robinson with 10
points each.
“We battled back throughout the game, but it wasn’t
enough,” said Hernandez.
The loss closed out an impressive season for the boys. In
an incredible district run, the Panthers lost their first two
games, but ran the table after that to finish their district slate
at 10—2.
Hernandez had these additional words for his seniors.
“This season would not have been what it was without the
leadership of our seniors,” he said. “A big thanks to Noah
Wheeler, Jacob Robinson, Hayden Hunt, and Tre Pruitt for
all of their hard work and dedication.”

“These young men have done a great job in setting the foundation
for the basketball program, and will continue to do great things in
life.”
“Go Panthers!”
Girls
The girls fell to Marion 53—33 in an Area round contest played
last Friday night at San Marcos Baptist Academy.
“Marion is a solid team,” said head coach Stuart Schultz. “We
were out of synch. Overall, we had a good run in the playoffs. We
weren’t supposed to beat Jourdanton in Bi-District, but we did.”
“I am so pleased the way our team played all season!”
Schultz warranted out praise for his seniors.
“Gracie Edmondson and Kaleigh Griffin improved every year as a
player, and I could not have
asked for two outstanding
leaders for the team. They
are a class act.”
“We have the bulk of
our team back for next
year, and should go further
in the playoffs.”
“It is time for us to take
Blanco basketball to a new
level.”
