Winner of Line-Up of the Year at the UK Festival Awards, Latitude returns for its ninth edition, taking place from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th July 2014 in the stunning grounds of Henham Park, Suffolk. Following recent announcements including headliners Two Door Cinema Club and Damon Albarn, Latitude is thrilled to announce the third and final headliner for the 2014 festival. Having played two sold out O2 Arenas in December 2012, Latitude are thrilled to announce that the third headliner on the Obelisk Arena on the Sunday will be The Black Keys. Latitude is especially proud as this will be The Black Keys’ first ever UK festival headline performance. Winners of last year’s BRIT Award for Best International Band and seven times Grammy Award Winners, The Black Keys’ most recent album El Camino has gone platinum in five countries. With a sound that veers between traditional blues, psychedelic and garage rock, partnered with an explosive and honest live performance, don’t miss The Black Keys, closing Latitude 2014 in style. Joining Latitude’s main stage bill on Friday night are brooding indie rockers Editors, returning at the request of the festival’s audience. A big hit at Latitude in 2009, Editors have since released yet another Top Ten LP to draw from. Returning to the Obelisk Arena will be Britpop legends James, a Latitude favorite, who after forming in 1982, went on to sell 12 million records worldwide and are back with new album La Petit Mort released June 2nd. "We love playing Latitude because it embraces creativity in all its many faces; not just a dole queue of bands. This raises it

above the corporate norm into the realm of something more magical. May the sun shine down

on us all.” Tim Booth, James. Moving up from headlining the iArena, Crystal Fighters bring back their mesmeric fusion of progressive dance, folktronica and rave, blended with uplifting lyrics, creating the perfect mix for the party crowd to soak up and enjoy. Genre-defying singer Kelis will debut soulful new tunes from her upcoming album Food, in a performance with her new live band. Latitude is honoured to have an exclusive UK festival performance from The Afghan Whigs who release Do to the Beast on April 14 via Sub Pop, this will be the band’s first album of new material since 1965 was released in 1998. Since forming in 1979, Tuareg rock group Tinariwen have grown into one of the best-known and distinctive voices in world music, taking home a Grammy Award for their fifth album Tassili in 2011. The Malian ensemble, famed for blending rock influences with the traditional music of the Sahara, will be a welcome addition to the bill. Latitude is thrilled that the partnership with BBC Radio 6 Music continues for another year, with many exciting artists just confirmed for the BBC Radio 6 Music Stage. Headlining the stage will be Scottish guitar maestros Mogwai whose new Top Ten album Rave Tapes has received rave reviews and whose unique, dynamic live shows are legendary, this promises to be an unforgettable set. Swedish singer-songwriter and Latitude favourite Lykke Li joins the bill as another headliner on this stage. Armed with sensuous, barely-there vocals and backed up by a quirky, bass-heavy electro dance sound, Lykke Li will be returning with new LP I Never Learn. Confirmed for the stage is Dublin's James Vincent McMorrow, making his only festival appearance in England & Wales at this year’s Latitude, after the release of acclaimed second album Post Tropical "profound and unexpected...a singular style that barely sounds as if it's from this world" [Mojo]. Clean Bandit’s mixing of electronic and classical genres came to fame with their massive UK Number One single Rather Be. With comparisons as diverse as Basement Jaxx and Disclosure and producing their songs themselves with guest artists, Clean Bandit are set to ignite the Latitude crowd. Philadelphian indie rock band The War On Drugs sample a slice of Americana with undertones reminiscent of Arcade Fire, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. March 18th sees the release of the band's newest offering, Lost In A Dream, representing the trials of the trip and the triumphs of its destination. Fans of punk rock will be well-served by Brooklyn’s Parquet Courts, who are fast gaining a fanbase with songs that crush their musical influences, such as The Fall and Sonic Youth, into two minute bursts and energetic live performances.

Returning to Latitude will be multi-instrumentalist and producer SOHN. His minimalist and melancholy music evokes a sense of travel which is displayed throughout his soon to be released LP Tremors. Having only formed in 2012, Temples debut album Sun Structures was an instant Top Ten for independent music in the UK charts. The combination of hazy vocals and pyschedelic

sounds has drawn critical praise comparisons between the Kettering four-piece and acts like The Byrds and Tame Impala. Raised on the building block of popular music, Hozier’s 2013 EP attracted popularity with one song, Take Me to Church, which became his breakthrough single after going viral on YouTube and Reddit. Following the release of his debut EP, Did You Hear the Rain? in November 2013, Bristol singer-songwriter George Ezra hit Top Five on the BBC's Sound of 2014 list. Citing Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie as his musical influences and with a bluesy mellow voice beyond his years, he is bound to be 2014’s next big thing. Another Latitude Festival exclusive will be Conor Oberst, an American singer-songwriter from Omaha, Nebraska of many musical guises including Monsters of Folk, Desaparecidos, and most notably Bright Eyes. Conor returns with a new solo album, Upside Down Mountain this May. Latitude provides the best in new, upcoming and niche music. If this is your thing, then the i Arena is the place for you. Taking to the stage is Tom Vek, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist who combines dance, indie, electronica, rock and new wave into the perfect mix. One of 2014’s bands to watch, Teen are a Brooklyn-based alternative rock quartet consisting of Kristina Lieberson (Here We Go Magic), her two sisters Katherine and Lizzie and Jane Herships. Set for greater success with their new LP The Way And Color due for release this spring. American folk artist Hiss Golden Messenger AKA songwriter/frontman M.C. Taylor, blends genre influences as varied as country, dub, blues, jazz and funk into a soulful hypnotic cocktail. After losing stock to a fire, his 2009 album Bad Debt has been released and Latitude will be the first band performance ever of Hiss Golden Messenger in the UK. John Wizards is the product of an unlikely collaboration between a Rwandan refugee and a bedroom programmer. They make electronic music, its fragile beauty earning them a place in The Guardian’s Top Ten Albums of 2013 for their self-titled debut LP. Ry X, is an Australian singer-songwriter and producer. His time is spent travelling and living in different destinations and the influences of this are reflected in the ambience of his music. California rock band Dawes, will appear with their gorgeous harmonies and immaculate musicianship at hand to bring their songs to life, this will be an unforgettable set. The Acid brings together three of the most innovative names in electronic music - the California polymath and professor of music technology Steve Nalepa, Grammy nominated producer and DJ Adam Freeland and musician and producer Ry X. Latitude will be one of the trio’s first live shows. Three-piece Mighty Oaks’ harmonic indie folk deals with love, loss and the beauty that surrounds us to bewitching effect. Hot on the heels of the release of their debut album Howl, they will play the i Arena. The latest names join exclusive performances from Damon Albarn, with a career spanning set, and Two Door Cinema Club, making their first festival headline appearance. Norwegian electronic duo Röyksopp and Swedish indie-pop pioneer Robyn perform in a joint-appearance as part of their Do It Again 2014 tour, the only opportunity in the UK to see the tour. Billy Bragg and his band will be stopping off at Latitude for a UK festival exclusive performance, as will colourful and psychedelic experimental Swedish band Goat, who have a magnificent live show, which can only be seen at Latitude this summer. Psychedelic hypno-groove rockers Tame Impala make their long-awaited appearance at the festival for an exclusive UK festival appearance, as do Daryl Hall & John Oates, fresh from their induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

Melvin Benn, Founder and Creator of Latitude comments: “This year sees Latitude return for its ninth edition, with a sensational and diverse bill that once

again really offers something for everyone. We’re incredibly pleased to announce The Black Keys

as headliners, along with a huge variety of established and emerging artists, representing every

genre from blues and rock through to world, indie, psychedelia, electronica and soul. Of course,

it’s the combination of outstanding music and arts that makes Latitude truly unique, and we’re

delighted to be able to reveal a whole host of high calibre comedians, theatre companies,

poets, writers and other performers across the festival. I’m confident this is going to be the best

Latitude yet!”

With no fewer than ten arts arenas, stages and spaces boasting the biggest names in comedy, theatre, dance, film, cabaret, literature and performance, Latitude is unrivalled for the breadth, depth and quality of its arts programming. 2014 is no different, offering a spectacular choice of major shows, star acts and ground breaking site-specific commissioned works. Latitude’s Comedy line-up offers festival goers a rare opportunity to see some of the biggest names in the business outside of an arena setting, and the first chance to see the acts destined to make waves in Edinburgh later in the summer. Latitude is delighted to announce the first headliner will be the award-winning Dara O’Briain! Described by The Times as “one of the most entertaining stand-up comics in the land”, Dara presents many TV panel shows including Mock The Week, School of Hard Sums and Stargazing Live with Professor Brian Cox. Absurdist comedian with a gift for punning Milton Jones is a firm favourite on the live circuit and on BBC Radio 4, where his hit series Another Case of Milton Jones airs each week, he’ll be bringing his colourful shirts and celebrated one-liners to Latitude. Among the comedy stars is Al Murray, presenting his Saloon Show, where the nation's favourite bar room philosopher will be joined by a host of special comedy, variety and music guests in a pop-up pub. Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner Tim Key will be at Latitude with his new show Single White Slut. Recently described by The Independent as ‘the British Seinfeld’, Josh Widdicombe is an observational stand-up who can find “the sparkle in the mundane” [The Guardian], co-host of topical chat show The Last Leg and XFM DJ. Trevor Noah is a South African comedian whose star is definitely on the ascent; fans recite his performances verbatim, share his clips globally and have joined him in their legions on social media. If you’ve missed him taking over the globe, catch him at Latitude this summer. Josie Long is a true moral force among comedians, known just as much for her passionate engagement with social causes as for her intelligent and irreverent stand-up, she will be taking time out of writing a film, a radio series and a book this summer to appear at this year’s festival. The “warped wit” [Scotsman] of Canadian Katherine Ryan will be unleashed. With a formidable reputation on the live circuit and high profile TV appearances in numerous panel shows and the hit Showtime/BBC sit-com Episodes, she will delight audiences with the new show Glam Role Model. Self-styled ‘German Comedy Ambassador to Great Britain’ Henning Wehn, now a fixture on radio and TV panel shows for his mordant wit, also joins the bill to present his latest show Eins, Zwei DIY which is already selling out its London run before it goes to Edinburgh. Rapper, comedian, actor, screenwriter and voiceover artist Doc Brown brings his rare warmth and versatility to Latitude as part of his return to stand-up, following the runaway success of his 2012 one-man show Unfamous. Veteran comedian and Edinburgh Festival regular Arthur Smith will revive his acclaimed show Arthur Smith Sings Leonard Cohen (Vol 2), a comical and musical success drawing on the themes of: dementia, enthusiasm, comedy and death. Acclaimed duo Cardinal Burns, who have scooped everything from BAFTAs to LAFTAs, are set to step up into comedy’s premier league this year with their second TV series on Channel 4. The increasingly fertile field of sketch comedy will be well represented at Latitude this year. Fans of comic sketches can look forward to Luke Kempner’s The Only Way is Downton, a one-man show voicing the characters from the Abbey in a brilliant parody, 2013 Chortle Award winners and hit podcasters Pappy’s, the charmingly warped three-piece Wittank, critically-feted character comedy from Max and Ivan, the surreal Pajama Men’s “cartoons of the mind” [The Guardian] and five-piece comedy improv group The Noise Next Door, among many others. Also joining the Comedy line-up across the festival will be Marcus Brigstocke & Andrew Maxwell, Seann Walsh, Tommy Tiernan, Jeremy Hardy, Miles Jupp, Felicity Ward, Glenn Wool, Kerry Godliman, Hannah Gadsby, Tiffany Stevenson, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Joe Lycett,

Tom Rosenthal, Aisling Bea, Jared Christmas, John Robins, Nish Kumar, James Acaster, Roisin Conaty, Mike Wozniak, Eric Lampaert, Celia Pacqoula, Alfie Brown, Bobby Mair, Pat Cahill, Angela Barnes, Kwame Asante, Joseph Morpurgo, David Morgan, Johnny Pelham, Dane Baptiste,

Latitude’s Theatre Arena has long been renowned for hosting some of the art form’s biggest names while nurturing the stars of tomorrow and 2014 will be no exception. The RSC come to Latitude with Attempts on a Revolution, a bold new commission with writer Alice Birch, the winner of the Arts Foundation Award 2014 for Playwriting, and a young playwright of growing renown. Latitude is thrilled to welcome Sheffield-based artists Forced Entertainment who will blur the boundaries between radio play, graphic novel and live performance with a revival of Void Story, their bleak fable that takes spectators on a roller coaster ride through the ruins of contemporary culture. Forced Entertainment will also take to Latitude’s all new theatrical studio space in The Faraway Forest, The Little House, with The Notebook. Based on the 1986 award-winning novel by Ágota Kristóf, the performance tells the story of twin brothers evacuated to the Hungarian countryside during World War II, to stay at their impoverished grandmother’s farm. The unnamed narrators are social outsiders, surviving in and understanding the world by a harsh private code, weaving dark and subversive humour from wartime hardships. Royal Exchange Manchester will bring a new production of 2011 Bruntwood Prize-winner Britannia Rules The Waves, a hard-hitting play about the brutalising effects of war on ordinary soldiers by Gareth Farr.

Battersea Arts Centre will bring two shows to the festival this year. In the Theatre Arena Shame, by cutting-edge practitioner John Berkavitch, will explore the feeling of humiliation in a boundary-crossing work of spoken word, hip-hop, illustration, animation and music where he will be joined by some of the UK’s leading break-dancers. Battersea Arts Centre’s second show in Pandora’s Playground will be Will Dickie’s Team of the Decades who will cast the audience in the role of a sports team guided by Will as a performer, coach, martial arts teacher and his father.

In the Theatre Arena award-winning comedian and playwright Mark Thomas is back with his work in progress, a timely, personal tale that sees the writer-performer explore what it means to find yourself spied on by a corporation under the sanction of the state. Ten years ago an activist and close friend of Mark's was exposed as a spy for BAE Systems infiltrating the movement, this show picks up from where the award-winning Bravo Figaro left off in style, using interviews to examine the impact of betrayal. Meanwhile DryWrite’s critically acclaimed Fleabag, gives audiences a chance to see the Critics’ Circle’s Most Promising Playwright Award-winning writer and performer Phoebe Waller-Bridger’s rip-roaring account of a sort of female living her sort of life. In 2013 Fleabag won a Fringe First and Phoebe has won The Stage’s Best Solo Performer and most recently Best Solo Performer at the Off West End Theatre Awards, giving festival goers a chance to see a very special show.

Luke Jermay’s skill and flair as a magician, mentalist and writer have taken him all the way from Basildon to Las Vegas, with spells working with Derren Brown and Dynamo. Having made his solo debut with the widely praised Sixth Sense he will appear at Latitude in the Theatre Arena where his mind reading skills will both delight and astound.

The spirit of experiment and carnival embodied at the festival in Pandora’s Playground will see Latitude join forces with The Lyric Hammersmith, Greenwich & Docklands International Festival and Watford Palace Theatre, to present a selection of the very best in physical and visual theatre. Site specific company Flipping The Bird will entertain with their Itinerant Music Hall, the world’s smallest (and only) travelling music hall outfit and aerialist duo Light The Fuse brings a bus shelter to life with romance, adventure and surprises, waiting for a bus has never been so much fun! Emerging ensemble Bucket Club invite audiences to join the search of The Royal Society of Beastologists on the hunt for a fearsome never-before-seen beast and Page One Theatre bring another new work Made Up Stories From My Unmade Bed. Pillows become clouds and beds are boats as the sheets billow above, inviting you into a world of colour, puppets, feathers and fun.

Exploring Secrets and Lies through the medium of theatre and performance art is experimental company Forest Fringe, who will present a diverse bill of new and specially commissioned work. Set to take place in the magical setting of Latitude’s Faraway Forest, artists including Brian Lobel, Greg Wohead, Louise Orwin, Christopher Brett Bailey, Chris Thorpe, Sarah Jane Norman, Verity Standen, James Stenhouse & Sam Halmarack, Tales of Whatever and Abigail Conway will address the themes of hidden monsters (Ted Bundy), intimate confessions (On The Tip of Your Tongue) and outrageous fabrications (This is How We Die).

Page 8: THE BLACK KEYS - Latitude Festival MARCH PRESS... · mark thomas | luke jermay | drywrite | clean break forest fringe present greg wohead, louise orwin, brian lobel, christopher brett

Other companies set to bring exciting works to the festival include Clean Break, Gagglebabble: The Bloody Ballad of Mary Maid, The Letter Room: Bonenkai, Flanagan Collective: Babylon, Dash Arts: Soviet Series and ARWC.

Sadler’s Wells presents a diverse programme of dance on The Waterfront Stage presenting world class dance in all its forms. This year’s programme includes performances from English National Ballet; National Youth Dance Company (NYDC) who will perform a restaged excerpt of Vertical Road by the company’s current artistic director Akram Khan; and James Cousins - winner of the inaugural New Adventures Choreographer Award, originally established in celebration of choreographer Matthew Bourne for his 50th birthday in 2010. Full line-up to be announced.

Experience Dirty Dancing like never before as the record-breaking stage production lifts off at Latitude, in a specially choreographed highlights dance sequence for The Waterfront Stage.

This year Latitude’s Literary Arena will reverberate with the wit and wisdom of a multitude of celebrated writers, with a selection of special events including those designed to take literature out of the tent and into the countryside.

In this year’s theme for 2014, Secrets and Lies, Latitude’s arts programming will set out to explore the boundaries between concealment, evasion and the art of keeping things to one’s self in a year in which the whys and wherefores of privacy and surveillance continue to make headlines. A series of events presented in association with Salon London will convene experts as diverse psychologists, neuroscientists, physicists and voice coaches to look at how and where the truth is hidden, and how we give ourselves away to other people. Celebrity psychologist Jo Hemmings (X-Factor, Celebrity Big Brother), Tristan Gooley, and forensic psychologist and psychopath specialist Kerry Daynes will reveal how to tell when people are lying to you and what to do about it. Some undercover stories will get an airing in Hidden Truths, care of writer Lloyd Bradley, Cambridge University neuroscientist Professor Barbara Sahakian and statistician David

Spiegelhalter OBE. In Secret You theoretical physicist David Tong will explain our existences at a subatomic level, while voice coach Juliet Russell will help audiences find and unleash their hidden voices with Art Macabre’s drawing salons.

Exploring the fine line that lies between protecting public order and safeguarding civil liberties are two authors: James Bannon, the undercover policeman who infiltrated a gang of football hooligans before turning his experience into the bestselling book Running With The Firm and Rob Evans, the campaigning Guardian journalist who has played an integral role in exposing a multitude of corruption scandals including Undercover, about the infiltration of undercover police officers into political groups over the past 40 years. Running with Secrets and Lies join Kensington Palace curator Deirdre Murphy to hear the hidden truths of eighteenth century court from Georgian Royal Secrets by Historic Royal Palaces. Award-winning writer and documentary maker Jon Ronson will read from Frank: The True Story that inspired the movie book, in which he remembers his friend Chris Sievey, known to the world as papier-mâché headed eccentric Frank Sidebottom. Alexandra Heminsley's, Running Like a Girl has drawn widespread praise for its entertaining treatment of endurance running, and the journalist and writer will take her book on the road to Latitude, hosting a Saturday morning run around the festival. Also getting out and about will be Patrick Barkham, who will take his audience on a badger-spotting walk to highlight the persecution of the animal recounted in his book Badgerlands. Laura Bates, the journalist and founder of Everyday Sexism, will talk about how she hopes her project, collecting over 10,000 women’s experiences of gender inequality, will help drive equality. Meanwhile writer and critic Zoe Pilger will also explore feminism from a fictional perspective through Eat My Heart Out, her critically lauded novel about being ‘young, female and frightened’ in contemporary London. JP Bean’s Singing From The Floor on the history of folk clubs in Britain was the first book that Jarvis Cocker acquired on becoming editor at large of Faber & Faber. Part oral history, part print documentary, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the scene. South African novelist and scriptwriter Lauren Beukes broke into the big time in 2013 with the publication of The Shining Girls. Its follow-up Broken Monsters, which casts the decaying city of Detroit in a central role, is set to be another terrifying hit thriller. Author, broadcaster and

columnist Malcolm Gluck is one of the UK’s most widely consulted authorities on wine. As he prepares to publish his 37th book on the subject, Malcolm will be at Latitude with a special wine tasting session.

Also appearing on the literary bill are Rachel Cooke, Professor Daniel Davis, Naomi Wood, Viv Groskop, Mark Ellen, John Osborne, Dylan’s Bookbus, Festival of the Spoken Nerd, and The Reader Organisation.

In the Film & Music Arena leading contemporary artist and arts education activist Bob and Roberta Smith will present a talk, as well as a preview screening of Tim Newton’s film, a special edition of his politically motivated work Art Party! The film preview of Art Party! brings together some of the biggest names in visual art and performance to protest against Education Secretary Michael Gove’s decision to remove arts subjects from the compulsory curriculum. Equal parts satire and committed political statement. Unmissable for anyone who cares about education.

Brighton-based experimental rock band Esben and the Witch will perform their live score of La Antena, a surreal sci-fi tale about a city reduced to silence after an evil media tycoon has stolen the residents’ voices. Director Esteban Sapir’s visually inventive film fantasy is an affectionate pastiche of classic silent cinema and the band will provide a live reimagined accompaniment. They join Kate Tempest, Shlomo and Friends in the Film & Music Arena with many more to come!

The Faraway Forest is a creative hub of art, live performances, installations and immersive playfulness and this year The Wrong Crowd will be creating the intrigue and atmosphere that has made the area so popular. Prepare to be taken into dark worlds full of mystery and discovery working with the Secrets and Lies theme. Artist David Shillinglaw made an impact with his festival goer-inspired mural last year and this year he will create an interactive shed and artwork over the course of the weekend, working within this year’s theme. Also exploring the theme through the medium of theatre and performance art is experimental company Forest Fringe, who will present a diverse bill of new and specially commissioned work.

Latitude’s Poetry Arena is already graced with some of the biggest names including Roger McGough, Gillian Clarke and Ben Okri, but a host of newly confirmed artists are set to position it as one of 2014’s standout poetry events. Official poet of London 2012 Lemn Sissay will bring his multicultural lyricism to the festival. Always a riotous mix of parties, performance and live art, Latitude’s Cabaret Arena will once again host a selection of the UK’s most exciting and experimental artists. Duckie, the post-gay performance collective, will continue their tradition of serving up the best of British illegitimate theatre, presenting a range of acts that span music hall to punk rock, as well as their legendary late-night disco. Crowd dominatrix and sword-swallower Miss Behave, a performer described by The Scotsman as “Betty Boop meets Marlene Dietrich”, will bring her salty wit and charisma to the festival in the form of Miss Behave’s Gameshow. Also on the bill are pitch-perfect parodists Queens of Pop, whose hilarious take-downs of everyone from Shakira to Deirdre Barlow have earned them legions of fans, while Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho will put the Iron Lady in sequins, reimagining an alternative post-politics career as a disco diva for the controversial former Prime Minister. Also appearing on the Cabaret Arena will be Eastend Cabaret, The Golden Boys and Ophelia Bitz.

Tania Harrison, Curator of the Arts Arenas commented: “This year the Latitude Arts Programme will explore the notion of Secrets, asking our artists and

audience to consider and engage with the multitude of secrets within their lives and ask

themselves: ‘What is Your Truth?’ This theme will pave the way for us to explore the human

relationship with the subjective notion of truth, and the way the allure of secrets are embedded

deep within our lives, throughout the programme of performances, discussions, speakers,

screenings, art and installations. It’s not all serious of course and there are some shows I am

bursting with excitement about and lashings of party spirit splashed all over the stages, not least

what I believe is going to be the best comedy programme we have ever presented! Plus The

Faraway Forest will unleash some outrageous gems, but that is all in the next announcement…”

The first Late Night DJ’s confirmed will be Guilty Pleasures, an unashamedly glorious all-singing, all-dancing renouncement of pop music and an antidote to modern day clubbing fatigue created by Sean Rowley taking to the festival on Friday night. Buttoned Down Disco, the largest indie dance party in the UK bring DJ’s Christian Laing and Mike Knight who will rock the Saturday night, armed with ace music, giant balloons and glitter cannons! Over in Pandora’s Playground big tunes will be blasted from the small-but-perfectly-formed Disco Shed into the small hours and In The Woods there will be Indeedy Musical Bingo, like normal bingo but with songs instead of numbers with Jess Indeedy and DJ Helix. For 2014 The Lavish Big Screen presents the theme Revolutions - Musical and visual anarchy, art mayhem and experimentation. This year at the Big Screen Lavish present an exciting selection of contemporary artists’ film and video plus live appearances by Phil Hartnoll (Orbital) and the legendary Don Letts (Big Audio Dynamite), Harry K (Simply Dredd) and Paul Burgess (author of Satellite: Sex Pistols Graphic Design and Memorabilia). A film programme will feature Chicks on Speed, Crass, One Hundred Foot and New Moves. Late Junction, BBC Radio 3’s late night celebration of musical curiosities from across time and space returns to Latitude for a fourth year running. Filling the woods with captivating sounds, previous line-ups have featured music as diverse as Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier, song collector and Mercury Prize nominee Sam Lee and the composer Anna Meredith. For 2014, Late Junction presenter Max Reinhardt hosts another hand-picked collection of diverse, wild music in the intimate setting of the Lavish Lounge, with highlights to be broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Confirmed artists include MOBO Award-winning jazz outfit Sons of Kemet, English roots trio Lady Maisery, and singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Eska. The award-winning Best Family Festival, Latitude has a huge array of family-friendly activities available for children and parents alike. Arranged around the banks of the central Latitude lake is the incredible Kids Area, where children are entertained all day and into the night with everything from pond dipping to missions and dares and giant model making to night-time star gazing. It’s the place where children never want to leave and parents wish they could stay! The Inbetweeners’ Teen Area is for those kids who may be a little too old for the Kids Area, but still want to get involved. adventures and bush-craft activities of our friends at Greenpeace, alongside a packed
