We take these freedoms for granted but back when the country was first founded these werent believed to be common place.

The idea was that should the states freedom ever be in jeopardy the people can fight back.

Back during the colonial era the government could force people to shelter soldiers in a time of war.

Police cant just go through your things without a reason. They need a warrant or probable cause.

Click here to return to the main menu.Amendment VNo Double Jeopardy.Dont have to be a witness against yourself. Eminent Domain- Government can take your property for public use, but has to compensate for it.

Amendment VIRight to a speedy and fair trial.Shall be tried in the state and district where the crime supposedly happened.Shall be informed of accusations against the defendant.Defendant shall be able to face accuser.

You cant be flogged through the streets for stealing an appleanymore.

Click here to return to the main menu.Amendment IXThe constitution couldnt list all of the rights that are given to citizens, but those rights still exist and shall not be violated unless under specific conditions outlined by the constitution.

An example would be basic human rights, they cant be violated but they arent listed in the Bill of Rights.
