THE BHARATI GAZETTE FRIDAY, 27 SEPTEMBER 2019 News that matters Delhi students gather at Lodhi Garden for Global Climate Strike The Global climate strike took place across the world on Fri- day, 20th September 2019, following which 2000 people gathered around the Lodhi Garden Gate No 1 area in New Delhi. It occurred in response to the movement that erupted after a Swedish teen, Greta Thun- berg urged the people to par- ticipate in a global strike. Flag marches and strikes were or- ganised in several parts of the world including the US, France, Australia, Germany, Japan along with several In- dian cities with massive human turnout pressing on the need of immediate actions on the global emergency, we are in. People of all age groups came in huge numbers and raised slogan like "There is no Earth B" and "Pradushan sei Azadi". The strike march started from the Lodhi Garden area and came to an end near the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, where protestors expressed the wish to meet the con- cerned ministers, but they had to return without a response due to unavailability of any of- ficial in the Ministry. The spot was flooded with students holding placards emboldening their stand of no compromise on the climate is- sues. These students were from various colleges in and around Delhi such as DRC, CVS, Pearl Academy, Bharati College, ADGITM, Jamia Milia Islamia and others. Several school and college students demonstrated enthu- siasm and recited poems. One such student, Rupanshi from Pearl Academy, Noida said, " Today was my exam and just after the submission, I rushed for this strike. I am re- searching and working on col- ors and i want to find ways through which i can collect eco-friendly ways of preparing color prints". The Delhi police was de- ployed to facilitate smooth completion of the strike and avoid any ruckus. Constable Vikram Singh, who was sta- tioned at the place of the strike said, " It is really a good initiative of students and this kind of movement should be organised by individuals al- ways.” These kind of strikes and protest are gaining momen- tum world over, and in contin- uation of the 'Friday for future ' campaign, the second strike is scheduled on 27th Septem- ber across the world. In Delhi, it will take place at Jantar Mantar. Pallak and Laxmi “Ramjas college incident motivated me to join politics”- DUSU President Kiran and Laxmi Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABPV), student wing of the ruling BJP, won the DUSU elections 2019. The student body won three posts out of four - President, Vice President and Joint Sec retary - with huge margins. I In a conversation with Bharati Gazette, the newly elected DUSU president Akshit Dhaiya said, "In my starting days of college, I was mostly involved in sports and aca- demics. But in February 2017, an incident in Ramjas College took place where anti-national slogan were raised.The stand of ABVP in this entire matter impacted me and I decided to join University politics and ABVP circuit.” Mentioning about his Presi- dential agenda and novelties in it, he said, "Our model is 5P Model, 'Parishad, Pravesh, Prathyakram, Pariksha aur Parinam , hum karenge kaam'. We want to implement this at the ground level of the campuses. Apart from ground level development, my focus will be on sports. Our Univer- sity students never win any medals in olympics. They do not even qualify for any con- test. My vision is to prepare students for "Olympic 2024". Being a sportsperson, per- sonally I want to take some new aspects for sports in Uni- versity ." On asking,how will he involve those people who do not be- lieve in ABVP,he said,"We want to build a responsible and student friendly DUSU. We are planning to organise olympiads, sports tourna- ments , training camps etc. We have been organising conclaves like "Sahas" for our women scholars and for cul- tural societies such as dance. Through all these, masses will automatically involve and DUSU will become friendly for all. " Opening about his inspiration , he added ,"This win is the tribute to Arun Jately Ji. I am his admirer and following him for the past seven years and like any other ABVP activist ,my inspiration is also "Swami Vivekananda". ABVP targets the nation first, nation recon- struction and India as Super- power in world, theory. Thus we all follow him. I am a be- liever of his line "arise awake and stop not till the goal is reached". Source: Laxmi Students face problems during examination form submission Last week, long queues were observed outside administra- tion department as students waited to submit their exami- nation forms for semester ex- aminations, Nov./Dec, 2019. Each department was allotted two submission dates and it was supposed to be done be- tween 10 a.m. and 1p.m. However, students faced many problems due to over- crowd and delay in the process. Neelima Editors: Nancy Singh and Srashti Designers: Muskan and Neelima Priyanka Bindhia and Kanchan,were the part of Kho-Kho team, which won India vs Nepal test series, held in Bardia,Nepal. They were selected through Federation Camp, and had no idea that this selection will be- come a great achievement for them. Bindhia, who hails from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, began her career as a sprinter but later changed her sport to Kho-Kho. This was because her father(CISF personnel) got transferred from Kar- nataka to Delhi. Dearth of space for practice in Delhi unlike Karnataka forced Bindia to change her sport. The duo never imagined that this reluctant move, would prove to be a turning point in her life. Her talent was recognized by Amit Kumar, Kho-Kho coach at Bharati College. After he visited as a trainer of a Sum- mer Camp, to her school, where he recgonized her po- tential and advised to take ad- mission in Bharati College. “Not everything went well for me in the beginning at the col- lege. In my first inter-college competition, I got out in very short time, this was the mo- ment I began doubting my po- tential,” she told the reporter. “There was not a single day when I skipped the practice and in fact I increased my ef- forts to prove myself,” she added. Another setback jolted her confidence as she was to participate in a tournament, which got cancelled due to some political reasons. “We were going to represent Delhi University in the tournament. It was a big opportunity and to practice for same, we had to compromise with study for the semester examination,” she said. With the support of her family, especially her father, Bindhia persistently focused on the hardwork and won several matches at college as well as national level. It was one of those tournaments that led her selection to the Interna- tional level tournament in Nepal. The tournament was organ- ised from 15 to 16 September. The Indian team, of which both Bindhia and Kanchan were a part won all the three matches and bagged the tro- phy for the nation. All this has happened be- cause of the dedication and efforts of Amit sir and Shubhra ma’am. We would like to say that if you work hard and believe in yourself, you can achieve any goal that you want,” both the players said. Bindhia and Kanchan’s story tells us, that we never know what destiny has in store forr us but if one is persistent with- efforts,one can set an exam- ple for everyone. Delhi students gather at LodhiGarden for Global Climate StrikeThe Global climate strike tookplace across the world on Fri-day, 20th September 2019,following which 2000 peoplegathered around the LodhiGarden Gate No 1 area inNew Delhi.

These kind of strikes andprotest are gaining momen-tum world over, and in contin-uation of the 'Friday for future' campaign, the second strikeis scheduled on 27th Septem-ber across the world. In Delhi, it will take place atJantar Mantar.

Last week, long queues wereobserved outside administra-tion department as studentswaited to submit their exami-nation forms for semester ex-aminations, Nov./Dec, 2019.
