  • The best things in the world contain Slovenian steel

  • Long years of experience in fields of development and production have enabled us to offer our customers the Majority of standard and special grades of stainless, carbon and electrical being produced in the world today. Constant development, improvement of processes and materials along with the introduction of a quality assurance system in accordance with ISO 9001, environmental management systems in accordance with ISO 14001 and occupational health and safety management systems in accordance with OHSAS 18001, are our guarantee for a constant quality level.

Steel making in Jesenice started long before 1992. In this region, iron making was developed already in 14th century. In 19th century, small ironworks joined and established the Kranjska industrijska družba – KID (Carniolan Industrial Company).

In 1872, Lambert von Pantz, the first director of KID, succeeded in producing ferromanganese in blast furnace. His invention represented a revolutionary innovation for metallurgic state-of-the-art of that time and it brought Pantz, as well as the Javornik ironworks, worldwide fame.

After 1960 Steelworks Jesenice developed quickly. With investments in new production facilities it has joined the leading steel producers in the world.

Stainless steels represents a family of corrosion-resistant steels that contain at least 10,5 % of chromium. Apart from chromium, these steels are alloyed with nickel, molybdenum, titanium, niobium and other elements.

Their mechanical properties and application depend on their chemical composition. A careful choice of the right steel grade is responsible for the durability and serviceability of a manufactured product.

Applications: oil and gas, chemical process industry, desalination, mining, pulp and paper, tubes and pipe production

NICRODUR - HOT ROLLED QUARTO PLATES

NICRODUR is a wear resistant steel with hardness from 360 to 540 HBW. The unique combination of high hardness, high strength and good toughness makes the material well suited for a wide variety of applications in which it is exposed to heavy wear by hard minerals and other abrasive materials. NICRODUR is characterized by its very good weldability, formability and machining properties.

Bulldozers, dumptrucks, industrial trucks, lorries, machine parts and tools for mineral extraction (mining), metal working tools – cutting edges, knives, gears, bearings, loaders, buckets, slurry pipe systems, etc.

Brinell hardness HBW according to EN ISO 6506 – 1 or EN 10003 – 1. Tests are made on each plate

Q + T (when subsequent tempering is needed)

Nicrodur 400 is supplied in plate thickness of 8 – 110 mm, Nicrodur 450 and 500 are supplied in thicknesses 8 – 80mm.

    * thicker plates available on request

    HOT ROLLED HEAVY PLATES

In today's global production of plastic products there are different technological processes, among which the most common are blow moulding, compression moulding, extrusion moulding and injection moulding in different shapes, made of tool steels for plastic moulding.

The latest technology of steel making (EAF, LF, VOD/VD and CC), rolling, heat treatment and surface treatment of heavy plates enables Acroni to supply the market with steels that meet the highest requirements of tooling industry.

In quenched and tempered condition: Hardness values in the quenched and tempered condition range from 280 to 330 HB. Other hardness ranges are available upon request.

In the soft annealed condition: Hardness values in the soft annealed state are up to 250 HB.

Acroni applies special quenching technology - a combination of air and water cooling. Tempering is performed in roller or chamber furnaces.

With the exception of steels ACRONI T25, T27 and T83 (supplied in annealed condition) we supply all mould steels in the quenched and tempered condition. No heat treatment of finsihed product is required.

Non-alloy structural steels are intended for manufacturing of specially welded constructions, such as bridges, factory halls, parts of agricultural mechanisation, pipes and sections. Very important property of these steel grades is guaranteed strength combined with good weldability. The welding technique used must be suitable for intended application. Important properties are also good toughness, good formability and bending.
