I'm a huge fan of all natural handmade beauty products. To me there is no question that I want to use the purest and healthiest ingredients on my skin. In Texas

we have a few makers that create the most luxurious and divine handmade

soaps, lip glosses, hair products, and other body care products. I asked the

makers of these products what inspires them to do what they do. And here’s

what they had to say

I love this question! Hand made products force us to really look at the

fundamentals of what goes into skin care.

It also forces us to use more accessible ingredients often times found in our

kitchens which are typically food grade, e.g. olive oil or baking soda for example.

After all, the synthetic ingredients most larger manufacturers use require precise

measurements and formulations created by their secret in-house chemists.

Why go through all the trouble when you can make something fresh, from scratch

at home using food! It’s really idiot proof when you’re doing it yourself. Not only

are the ingredients more basic when someone hand makes products, it’s also

made with love and it’s fun and safer! More importantly, I want to be in control

of the ingredients in my skin care.

Right now, I’m in love with organic avocado seed oil. My skin loves it and absorbs

so nicely without being greasy. I also add essential oils of lavender and rose to it

for an after-shower all-over deep moisturizer that also gives me a nice glow.

When we make our products, we love to use cold press vegetables oils from our

preferred farmers, things like organic virgin coconut and olive oils, organic

sunflower seed oil, sweet almond oils, etc.

Our favorite medicinal oils grown by our American farmers are arnica, comfrey

and chickweed!
