Over the past several weeks we’ve featured different types of fraud, along with tips and behaviors to follow. Fraud impacts more than the bottom line. You can help protect our customers and our reputation by following these 6 tips to outsmart the fraudsters.

ONE—Protect our customers’ privacy. » Never write down or include a customer’s sensitive information in account notes (i.e. PIN, credit card number, social security number).

» Never provide personal customer information, including Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI), to an account holder that cannot provide a valid government-issued photo ID.

TWO—Be aware of Social Engineering and Phishing schemes.

» Fraudsters trying to trick you into providing customer and company information can be very creative.

THREE—Authenticate and identify our customers.

» Always follow your Authentication policy and the Customer ID policy to ensure you are protecting your customers and Sprint.

FOUR—Avoid unethical and fraudulent behaviors.

» Do not access, view or alter your account or account’s of your family, friends or co-workers.

» We closely monitor access to all accounts, especially employee accounts within the billing system and tools.

FIVE—If you step away from your workstation, lock before you walk!

National Field Fraud Prevention: » Focuses on Fraud Awareness, Risk Avoidance, and Fraud Prevention.

» Provide training tools to our sales teams and work with internal training.

SA Security & SA Access Management, Business Analysis:

» Provides system access support and troubleshooting assistance to Dealers and sales contacts for digital certificates, password resets, user ID moves, NSS passcode resets.

Investigations (Victim Assistance, FRAT, Investigations and Subscription Fraud):

» Investigates sub-fraud (ID theft), add-a-phone fraud (unauthorized added line) and equipment fraud (equipment charged to the account).

Analytics, Fraud Support Systems and Special Investigations:

» Provides the fraud/compliance analysis, alarms, reporting and adjustments.

» The team also manages civil lawsuit investigations related to handset trafficking.

Internal Compliance & Fraud Investigations:

» Conducts fraud and theft investigations in all postpaid and prepaid channels for both company owned and vendor locations.

» Engages in risk mitigation and management activities to protect Sprint from fraud and internal theft.

» Develops and delivers fraud, ethics, and compliance awareness training.

Network Fraud Network, Technical, Wireline and Payment Fraud Network Fraud:

» Conducts investigation and follow-up with the customer if any device replication has occurred. Only Fraud Management can determine if this has occurred on their account.

» Receives information through various systems, and internal referrals. Upon investigation, they may either suspend or cancel the related accounts and maintain the AR negative table.

» Receives inbound calls from account holders that have been suspended or canceled. They don’t handle issues related to refunds.

1. Determine User Permission Level » Select Learner if your employee only needs to complete training lessons (Most Common).

» Select Manager if you would like your employee to add/remove users and view Dealership reporting.

2. Enter User Information » Select the + button and enter Last Name, First Name, Email (important for password recovery), door, position (Sales Manager or Sales Rep is the most common).

» Select the + Add yellow button.

Adding New Hires to STARHiring new employees, make sure to add them to STAR so they can take the Join, Switch, Upgrade Promotion Training. Here’s how, using STAR link: https://www.uex.sprint.com/learning/

3. Provide User Credentials to your Employee » After selecting the +Add yellow button, the system will process the new user and will populate the user ID. Provide that alphanumeric ID to your employee, which they will use to access STAR. The default password is sprint. Your employee should update their password the first time they login to STAR.

» This information can also be found in the ‘Support’ section on the STAR website.

If you are the owner and can’t find your STAR login credentials, please check with your Account Executive. The Join Switch Upgrade Training is located under My Courses in STAR.

(We reported earlier this month that Cricket would offer roaming in Canada late in August. This “roundtrip” feature will be automatically included in Cricket's Smart ($50) and Pro ($60) monthly plans with no additional charge or enrollment. Primary usage must still be in the U.S.

» Cricket also launched new international add-ons to Dominican Republic, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Jamaica, Haiti, or Nicaragua by adding the country of their choice to Cricket's Smart ($50) and Pro ($60) monthly plans. For an additional $10 - $15 per month, the add-ons give consumers a range of mobile-to-mobile and landline calling minutes (depending on the country) plus unlimited text, picture, and video messaging.

Competitive UpdatesPagePlus (Verizon MVNO)PagePlus announced several plan changes effective Sept. 1:

» The $29.95 plan’s voice minutes will increase from 1200 to 1500 minutes, text messages will increase from 3000 to unlimited texts and data from 500 MB to 1 GB of data. Data on this plan is capped; after 1 GB users have no data for the remainder of the plan month.

» All three of PagePlus' unlimited talk and text plans will receive data increases:
