It is hosted locally by AllBrands of Metairie, LA which is a full service sewing business conveniently located in the greater New Orleans area. They offer a broad selection of Industrial and Household Sewing, Embroidery, and Quilting Machines and offer personalized training on everything they sell! This letter will attempt to answer most of your questions concerning The Bayou “Hands On” Sewing, Quilting, Knitting and Embroidery Conference. We are fully committed to making this conference one that you will want to attend year after year. We will have great teachers, great food, a great facility with discounted room rates, great bargains on a huge room full of sewing related products, great chocolate in the afternoons, and most important, we are committed to making sure that everyone from beginner to expert will have a great four days! 1. Everyone will have a class with each instructor and will work on three or more hands on projects. There will be classes that will be specifically for you based on the brand of software that you own. For example, if you own software by Singer, Viking, Pfaff, Artista, Janome, Elna, Kenmore, BabyLock, Brother, Bernina or Generations you will automatically be assigned for that class. There will also be classes for many other software programs that will be of interest. Some classes will be taught in the evening. 2. This conference will truly offer four full days. Classes will begin each day at 8:00 AM and will break for lunch at 11:00 AM. Classes will resume at 1:30 PM and will break for dinner from 4:30 till 6:30 PM, with night classes from 6:30 till 9:45 PM the first three nights. 1. Everyone will have a class with each instructor and will work on three or more hands on projects.There will be classes that will be specifically for you based on the brand of software that you own. Deb JonesDeborah Jones is a 30-year veteran of computerized embroidery. Her parents owned some of the firstcomputerized embroidery machines in the United Sates, and she grew up surrounded by machine embroi-dery.

Walter Floriani

Walter A. Floriani, Jr. of Tehachapi, California has been dubbed by many as the “Guru of Digitizing”. Aswell He should be, He’s only been exposed to embroidery his entire life. In fact, Walter is a fifthgeneration Designer, Digitizer (just wait until you see the samples of his work), author, lecturer andconsultant. He owns and operates Floriani Favorite Stock Designs and Floriani Embroidery ConsultingServices. For most of his life he has worked primarily with commercial embroiders, but for several yearsnow has been involved with what is termed by Walter as the Fun Embroiderers! Nancy L. Burgess

Seamstress, embroiderer, teacher, wife and mom. Nancy has been "creating" fabric art for more thanthirty years. She has sewn and crafted just about everything there is in the field of sewing. She has taughtboth business and creative seminars all over the continental U.S. Ishabibbel, Inc is the wonderful companythat Nancy expresses herself through. Nancy is an expert on the Viking/Pfaff software. She has taughtmany Viking Dealers the Viking Cross Stitch Program, at Viking Convention. Her simple explanation of theViking and Pfaff Software will challenge the expert and excite the beginner.

Nancy will also be teaching a class titled “Where does it go and how do I get it there?” This is anembroidery placement with the appropriate stabilizer class. This lecture/demo is for all embroiderymachine enthusiasts, regardless of machine. You will learn how to embroider on difficult areas such ascollars and cuffs; difficult items such as caps and socks; and difficult designs such as cross-stitch on Aidacloth and more.

Suzanne Hinshaw

Having been an Interior Designer, Fashion Coordinator and working with her own Graphic Arts, Suzanneincorporated her knowledge of fashion and design with her diverse studies in Heirloom sewing andoriginated “Garments of Praise” pattern line. Suzanne is most known for her U.S. Patent #6,101,962“Shadow Work by Machine” and has developed beautiful Design Collections for Embroidery SewingMachines using this unique concept. Suzanne has studied abroad in England, Scotland, and Madeira withvarious museums and sewing schools and uses her gained knowledge of handwork to incorporate the spe-cial touches she adds to her elegant Shadow Work Designs that allows you to do with your machine in amatter of minutes.

Suzanne has written many articles in Sew Beautiful magazine and has taught in the Martha Pullen School ofArt Fashion for over 16 years. She teaches and lectures at many National Markets, Expos, and SewingMachine Conventions.

(Shadow Work was originally only done by hand, Suzanne’s patented technique duplicates handwork inthat all the color under the fabric shadowing through the fabric is the machine threads themselves, in-cluding the outline on top of the fabric. You never have to hoop your fabric and it’s easier to do thanregular embroidery.)

Nita O’Keefe is the owner and sole digitizer of Fancy That Designs and her embroidery design collectionsare exquisite in their detail and incorporate efficient digitizing techniques to minimize thread jumps. Shehas a complete mastery of the PE Design/Palette software to use it to its fullest potential and is not afraidto experiment with it to create new and interesting effects in the digitizing process. In recognition of herdigitizing achievements, Nita has been awarded 3 honors awards from the EMB contest 2001. Also a 3rd

place Outstanding Digitizing Award & a 3rd place Best Embroidery for Single head Embroidery shopscompeting against professional digitizers & using only her PE-Design/Palette software to create with, fromthe Impressions contest 2001.

In 1999, Nita began teaching her techniques and digitizing style at dealerships and national embroideryevents. Nita’s class “Let’s get Creative” will be three hours of fun. This is a class based on learning severaldifferent techniques to use with your designs and software. Martha has been around sewing most of her life. She learned to do free motion embroidery in the ‘70’s.When her sister purchased an embroidery machine, it was the perfect opportunity to get into thebusiness. What started in her sister’s sewing room has now become OESD. Martha ran the embroiderymachines for many years and then supervised the production line. Martha also digitized many designs inOESD’s catalog as well as training new embroidery start up companies. After having a career as a teacher, librarian, and CPA, Bocca Sue Rambo of Longview, Texas, has finallyfound what her true calling is as a designer, author, and educator in the sewing field. She has been work-ing with a needle since preschool and has always loved handwork and sewing as a hobby. After acquiring aPfaff 7570 for her 25th wedding anniversary she was able to combine the love of needlework with the loveof computers. Bocca Sue has been working on computers on a daily basis since 1986 and has developed afascination and enthusiasm for computers and many sewing computer programs.

Bocca Sue won the 1999 first place Sulky Wearable Art contest amateur division. This was the jumping offplace for her new career. She has written 3 books, Pasting Your Way to Fills with PC-Designer,Computerized Sewing Using Windows 98 Paint Program, and The Buzz on Windows Explorer 98, Buzz Tools,and Buzz Edit. Pfaff headquarters was so pleased with the book on the Pfaff program that they mailedout the flyers for the book to all their dealers. She has just completed designing and writing the articleson the Mystery Quilt for Designs in Machine Embroidery magazine.

Based in Nottingham, England Andrew has been associated with Compucon for over 9 years firstly workingfor Compucons UK distributor before joining Compucon directly. Andrew has always worked in the Textiletrade and has a varied knowledge of fabric knitting and dyeing all the way through to the garmentmanufacture. Now working as a Business Unit Manager, this position covers a wide and varied productrange with Stitch and Sew being one of them. Taken from Compucons commercial background Stitch andSew is a revolutionary software that incorporates many commercial aspects but they have been adaptedfor the home user. Andrew will be teaching to aspects of this unbelievably simple to use software.Photostitch

Mary CorolloMary is a certified Quilting Instructor, and a fulltime industry educator specializing in machine quiltingtechniques, machine embellishment and embroidery artistry. Madra’screativity has been featured in many publications. After her second year of winning top awards in theAmazing Designs Sulky Challenge in the professional category, she joined the Amazing Designs educationteam. Becky McNeill began her design journey in 1975 when she first picked up a needle, thread, and countedcross-stitch chart with her sister-in-law’s encouragement. After becoming a devout stitcher, collectingover 18,000 designs, stitching models for shops, offering her work for sale and filling her home and herfriends’ homes with her work, she found a new avenue of expression with machine embroidery.Combining her 20+ year experience with cross stitch, Becky now creates her own designs fromphotographs, teaching others in her tricks and techniques, `and distributes her designs to well-deservedacclaim through the Internet currently to fifteen countries and counting!
