The draft Event Management Policy is open for community consultation until 13 September and sets out clear guidelines for the hire of council facilities, including ovals, recreation parks and open space parks and gardens. Under the reviewed policy, ovals will no longer be available for high impact events that could damage oval surfaces. Council staff will work with event organisers to select the most appropriate facilities for their event, which may include multiple venues for event activities. Last year household garage sales in the region made an average of $319, with more than 450 kg of stuff being sold and redistributed at each sale. Children aged up to 12 can also join the fun by participating in our Garage Sale Trail colouring competition, with great prizes to be won. Call into your local library branch to find out more.
