Since Judas crossed Jesus,

The relationship between the Jews and

the Christians has been rather

strained.

Caricatures of JewsLike the Ahasver

Paint Jews as sinnersAnd propagate hate.

But until modern timesJewish persecution

Was based on opposing

Ideologies.

The Jew who converted,

who renounced his transgressions,

Was accepted back into

the Christian's esteems.

But with the enlightenment,

Came more equality,And soon Jews

conformed,And divisions receded.

So Christians felt threatened,

Scared of subversion,And soon anti-

SemitismBegan to breed.

The world was more modern,

The church losing power,

And soon Jews were more than

a religious creed.

Soon came the viewOf the secular Jew

And a movement to isolate

Morphed into enmity

The effigy of Jewsas parasites soon

permeated Weimar's German speech.

The Jews were more separate,

but together had freedom

To further their cultureand solidarity!
