them efficiently reclaimed and reused by Armstrong to make new ceilings.

Confirm.Verify with your Armstrong Ceiling Systems sales representative that

your old ceiling tiles can be recycled. We don’t care who made them.

Remove.Stack your approved old tiles on pallets and shrink wrap or tightly band them.

Ask your Armstrong representative about other materials handling options

and the availability of consolidation locations for less-than-truckload quantities.

mineral fiber ceilings when and where you tell us – at no charge to you.

Note: Armstrong will pay freight costs for truckloads over 30,000 sq. ft., anywhere in the continental USA and some places in Canada. For less than 30,000 sq. ft., check with your representative for a consolidator in your area.

*We timed a crew stacking old tiles on a pallet for recycling at 1.3 man-hours/1000 sq. ft. compared to 1.2 man hours/1000 sq. ft. to load a cart and throw in a dumpster in a one-story building with access to loading docks.

As a founding sponsor of the United States Green Building Council, Armstrong

recognizes the importance of the LEED® rating system to sustainable design.

In fact, Armstrong ceiling systems and programs can help achieve LEED® credits.

Energy Credit #1: Optimize energy performance

Armstrong high light reflectance ceilings (Hi-LR) can help a building project

qualify for LEED® points. The ceilings provide more workplace luminance with

less luminaries, and they meet the ASHRAE standard by the required 20%

for new buildings and 10% for renovations.

Material Credit #2: Construction waste management

Armstrong is the only manufacturer with a closed-loop recycling program. Old

mineral fiber ceilings from renovation projects are efficiently reclaimed and reused.

Material Credit #4: Recycled content

Armstrong ceilings contain high levels of recycled content, either post-industrial

waste or post-consumer product. The amount of recycled content varies by

product – mineral fiber: 22%-82%, fiberglass: 40%, wood: 45%, metal: 25%,

and suspension systems: 25%.

Material Credit #5: Local/regional materials

Armstrong has seven ceiling manufacturing plants and five suspension

system plants located throughout the country. Multiple plant locations reduce

the environmental impact of transportation from manufacturing facility

to building project.

Material Credit #6: Rapidly renewable materials

Armstrong mineral fiber ceilings contain cornstarch, a rapidly renewable

material. And, our ceiling products effectively reuse both post-consumer and

post-industrial waste. Some of the materials used in our manufacturing process

are: cornstarch (from U.S. grown corn), mineral wool (from a steel industry

by-product), recycled paper (such as newspapers and telephone books), perlite

(a naturally mined material), and recycled ceilings (from renovation projects).
