A Welcoming Community of Faith. Come Experience Christ With Us. December 24, 2017
"...THE PEACE OF EARTH TO HIM, THE JOY OF HEAVEN TO HIM. BEHOLD HIS FEET HAVE REACHED THE WORLD; THE HOMAGE OF A KING BE HIS, THE WELCOME OF A
LAMB BE HIS... ALL HAIL!!! LET THER BE JOY..." A Christmas Sourcebook, p. 22.
Today could be called a neurotic day. We celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent during the day, and Christmas in the afternoon and evening. It's good that this only happens once every seven years!!! The birth of Jesus ushered in the Messianic Age for all humanity. The hope of Isaiah and the other prophets was that there would be a new order with the coming of the Messiah. There would be a new way to live and interact with one another because God became one with humanity. While the presence of Emmanuel has changed the world, and all of us, there is still a great deal for us to accomplish if we want others to discover and experience what we have, that Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us for all people for all time. Christmas is that wonderful time for our faith in the gift of Jesus to us. We celebrate him, not as a baby, but as the one who died and rose for us all. His birth was the beginning of his life on earth, and the start of our life with him. The gifts we exchange are reminders of our love for one another but also of the gift of Jesus to us. This is the time for Jesus to be reborn in our hearts, so that we can better reflect his life and love through us. Christmas is the encounter with a God who loved us so much that he gave us the best gift he could- his only Son. It is now our responsibility to bring the peace, joy and love of Jesus to all those we meet so that this Christmas Season is a time of joy for all of us! On behalf of our entire Parish Staff: FR. SILVANO, FR. JOHN, DEACON DAN, DEACON JERRY, DEACON ART, NANCY CAPUTO, ANN MARIE GESUALDO, KIM MAILLEY, MATT WILSON, CAROLINE PONTERIO, OUR SUPPORT STAFF & MYSELF, I want to extend to you and your family our best wishes for a MERRY & HOLY CHRISTMAS AND CHRISTMAS SEASON. May this time be for all of us a time to bask in the wonder of Emmanuel, God with us for all people for all time.
MERY CHRISTMAS!! BUON NATALE!! FELIZ NAVIDAD!!
~ FR. JOE

PARISH SCHOOL NEWS
Mrs. Caroline Ponterio, Principal
Inspired by the parish giving tree, our Christmas
pageant this year was titled “Star of Wonder.” What a
day and night of wonder it was!
There were two performances on Thursday, December 21st. Our first performance was the 1:00PM dress rehearsal with our students in their full dress uniforms. Our afternoon performance allowed family members and friends who do not like to venture out at night to see the children perform. The evening performance took place 7:00PM with our students decked out in their holiday finest. Part One of the program featured Christmas songs that are secular in nature and fun to sing. Part Two of the program tells the Nativity Story, narrat-ed and performed by our 8th graders, a magical Saint James tradition. Woven through the story were the performances of some favorite religious Christmas songs including Away in a Manger and Mary, Did You Know? The pageant concluded with the entire school community assembled and singing Silent Night and Joy to the World. Not only were the children decked out for Christmas… you should have seen Hatcher Hall, the 2nd floor and the classroom doors. Hatcher Hall was adorned with students’ Christmas and winter artwork along with white lights and red and green lights projected on the ceiling. It is snowing on the 2nd floor! There are snow-flakes hanging from one end of the hall to the other. Each classroom door is decorated using one of the pageant Christmas songs as inspiration. Our pageant was a festive celebration of Christmas and the birth of our Lord, Jesus, under the direction and guidance of our Music teacher, Mr. Joel Cotton. It was standing room only and there were standing ovations. Bravo to all! From our school families to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas and glad tidings in the New Year. Peace on earth, good will toward all.
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy; and going into the house they saw the child with Mary, his mother, and they fell down and
worshipped him.” Mt2:10-11

WEEKLY MASS INTENTIONS
May They Rest in the Peace of Christ
INTENTIONS FOR THE SICK
At the “General Intercessions” we pray for the sick. Our prayers for the sick are very important, especially in
critical times of sudden illness, surgery or worsening condition. We will continue to pray for and mention the
names of our sick parishioners for three weeks when we receive notice from the family or the individual asking for
prayers. After three weeks, the name will continue to be listed in the bulletin, until we receive notice otherwise. If
the condition worsens, please call the Rectory so that the name can be mentioned during Mass again.
