A2 : Outcome at the end of the academic session

1. A sample group of 30 members of different ages among the alumni & the parents was selected

and was allowed to examine related information asked in the questionnaire. The feedback was

obtained through questionnaire and the analysis of feedback depicted supporting nature and

academic interest of the public towards the development of the College. The analysis of the

answers given by the various persons, about the infrastructure of the college, Programmes

offered Sports events, Cultural events, etc., reveals good opinion.

2. As routine work an orientation programme was conducted for entire students of the college

during the Second week of August, 2009. Many resource personalities were invited to the college

on various occasions like welcome function, farewell function, special seminars, etc to discuss

about academic-related matters and general matters.

3. Conduct tests, seminars, Home assignments, mini projects, group discussions, remedial classes on

required subjects and examinations in accordance with the internal calendar of events.

4. The feed back from the students about the teachers, the course curriculum, library and other

infrastructure of the college and especially about starting B.Com and B.Sc CBZ Courses, were

collected through questionnaire and the appropriate steps were taken to reform the situation.

5. The Self Appraisal Reports (SAR) of teachers were collected to recognize the facts of different

activities and teaching practices of the faculties.

6. The teaching staff members were permitted to take up research work in the areas of their interest

& were also permitted to participate in various conferences, workshops and seminars conducted

at various places.

8. A Health checkup camp for the students was conducted by a group of local doctors in the month

of January, 2010.

9. NSS special camp was planned at Vipra Village during the months of December, 2009 in order to

help villagers troubled by flood under the guidance of the Principal, the staff and the NSS officer.

During this camp NSS volunteers helped the villagers through;

i. Rebuilding the roads

ii. Propagating the importance of keeping clean environment

iii. Helping the villagers in rebuilding destroyed houses

iv. Collection of donations in the form of cash, cloth, and food grains to

help flood-affected people.

10. Staff and NSS students along with NSS officer participated in AIDS awareness programme,

Social activities, blood donation programmes etc.

11. Arranged book exhibition with the help of Prasarang Hampi university, Hampi.

12. Proposal to start Post graduate courses has been sent to Department of Collegiate Education.

13. A proposal for starting Digital library has been discussed with the concerned department.

14. Up gradation of Chemistry, Physics and Computer science laboratories is in progress.

15. For smooth administration computers were installed in the office and computer lab with LAN

facility.

16. Encouraged the members of facaulty to take up UGC minor/major research projects.

PART- B

1. Activities reflecting the Goals and Objectives of the Institution

The goal of Government First grade College is to impart value based quality education to the

youths of gangavathi and neighbouring villages irrespective colour, race,religion,sex,caste &

creed.Including Global Skills among the students and providing multiple course for the benefit of

rural students.

Objectives of the college is providing its students intellectual nourishment and also inculcating in

them such values and skills in order to lead a quality life.

“Vision of the college is to provide good higher education to youth of this Hyderabad-Karnataka

region and to extend Government facilities to the students of the college”.

“Mission of the college is to reinforce the academic performance of students and to ensure

higher education opportunity for all interested eligible rural stream, so that the students are capable of

tackling the challenges of life”

1. As a routine task, the distinguished personalities were invited to the college on various occasions to

discuss about the morals of students & Lecturers, significance of social responsibilities of a student

towards nation & parents, the role of the students in building a good nation, role of students in social

forestry activities, etc.

2. Instead of customary method of teaching i.e. “inscription of white on black and speak on a

theme”, many lecturers have started using modern audio-visual in teaching to sustain the

concentration of students on the topic to be discussed. Tests, Seminars and Group discussions were

arranged to accelerate the academic performance of the students

3. Inter-college level seminars were arranged for the students of different colleges situated in this area

during the month of January, second week.

4. Welcome, Farewell and annual day gathering are arranged to create a sense of "living

thoughtfully".

5. The college celebrates all national festivals and regional festivals to impart a sense of "patriotism"

6. The college encourages the participation of students in national programmes like AIDS awareness,

maintenance of hygiene, Social forestry activities, etc in order to habituate social responsibilities

among the students

7.Extra classes were taken on English grammar, Accountancy, Income tax, Cost accounting and

Mathematics to improve academically weaker segment of the students.

8. New equipments were purchased for Physics ,Chemistry laboratory to facilitate the students in

learning practical problems.

9. Though there are 6 private degree colleges in Gangavathi, yet there is an increase in admissions.

2. New academic programmes were initiated:

Journalism in B.A. Course has been introduced.

3. Innovation in curricular design and transaction:

Curricular desaign is accordingly university guidelines. However teachers whenever required ,

make use of teaching aids such as OHP, CDS, Maps or Photos.

A dowry prevention function was organized by sociology department.

BSc Chemistry students and facaulties visited JINDAL STEEL INDUSTRIES TORANAGAL,

BELLARY as a part of industrial tour.

The Students and staff of History department visited the Historical places like Anegundi ,

Chintamani and Pampa Sarovara .

The BOOK EXBHIBITION was Jointly arranged with Prasaranga , Hampi University Hampi.

Indian Constitution and Environmental studies are common subjects to all III Semester BA, BSc

& BBM Students

Dr.Y.T.Ravikiran of Physics Department delivered a special talk on ‘Conservation of energy’

with experimental demonstration. .

Prof. Y.B.Angadi lecturer of chemistry explained about Water pollution and its contol through

a special talk to create awareness.

Prof. Vitoba S Convinced the students about Role of LIC to society.

Inter-active sessions such as Group discussion, Mock Parliament was conducted by

Dr.Yariswamy, Kum. Saraswati and students of political science department.

5. Examination reforms implemented:

In view of the fact that the college is affiliated to Gulbarga University, the university takes the

decisions about examination reforms. However, an examination committee consisting of faculty

members was formed to monitor tests & examinations were to be held in accordance with the calendar

of events.

6. Candidates qualified: NET/SLET/GATE etc. :

** This is not applicable as the college offers only UG courses.

7. Initiative towards faculty development programmes:

Prof. Shivakumar Lecturer in Physics Participated in OC at UGC academic staff college, JNU

NEWDELHI.

Dr. Emmanuel Sanjayananda Lecturer in Mathematics Participated in OC at UGC academic

staff college, at JNU NEWDELHI.

Prof. Bajrang bali Lecturer in History participated in National level seminar on ‘Dimension of

Nayaka system’ held at GFGC Chitradurga.

Dr. N.G. Hebsur SGL in Chemistry presented a paper on ‘protective material for steel and

concrete’ in State level seminar held at V.N. college Hospet.

Prof. Hasanmiya SGL in physics participated in State level seminar on ‘Emerging trends in

material science’ held at V.N. college Hospet.

Every year, the IQAC members along with the senior faculty members arrange class observation

and micro-teaching programmes for some selected teachers.

and Kannada pustaka pradikar Bangalore jointly on 20-02-2010.

Department of physics conducted special seminar on ‘The Role of Liquid crystals’

Resource person - Dr. Manjunath, Lecturer in physics Government first grade college, Challikeri

on 13-01-2010.

Department of Chemistry organised special seminar on ‘chemistry and life science’ :

Since this is Government College, the recruitment of teachers solely depends upon Karnataka

Government. This year 15 newly recruited staffs have reported to duty in our institute. However,

the Principal has been given the power of appointing lecturers on temporary basis as when

required. During this academic year 30 Guest lecturers have been appointed.

23. Courses in which students' assessment of teachers is introduced and action taken on

student's feedback.

Assessment of teachers by the students is conducted every year for all the courses and reviewed

by the concerned head of department and the principal. Based of this feedback, some guest

teachers were suggested to improve their teaching abilities.

28. Computer and Internet access and training to teachers and to students.

At present, Internet facility is available for the staff, the office and computer science lab. Internet

facility has been extended for the students of BBM & B.Sc & B.A. students

The college provides scholarships for the eligible SC, ST, and OBC students out of funds given

by the Department of Social Welfare and the Backward Class & Minorities Office.

Alumni association of the college provides useful information about the staff & the students.

Parents association had given a very good response in annual cultural jamboree & general

meeting held by the college.

Compulsory Medical Examination is being provided to the students during the II semester. This

year also the college arranged blood group testing camp at free of cost for the students & staff

with the help of local doctors.

Students have participated in university level and college level sports compitation.

Basava B.A. Student has awarding university blue in Ball badminton.

Bhargavi B.A. student has secured Silver medal in long jump and Bronze medal in high jump in

inter collegiate athletic meet held at Gulbarga university Gulbarga.

34. Incentives to outstanding sports persons:

Every year, the college provides amount for track shoes, Blazer, sports shoes are given to the

students. Our college Incharge physical director had given cash prizes to the capable sportsman

& sportswoman.

35. Students achievements and award:

Students have participated in university level and college level compitation.

Laxman Ba student : participated in Folk Song a program on singing compitation held at IMA

bhavana Gangavathi on 27.09.2009.

College team participated in the MANAGEMENT FEST held at Sri Basaveshwara college

Bagalakot.

Bhargavi B.A. student has secured Silver medal in long jump and Bronze medal in high jump in

inter collegiate athletic meet held at Gulbarga university Gulbarga.

36. Activities of guidance and counseling unit:

The Career Guidance Cell of the College provides necessary information about the career to the

students as and when the necessity arises. Career Guidance Workshops were arranged for final

semester students in the month of January, 2010.

37. Placement service provided to the students:

No particular placement cell has been established in the college. However, some students have

been appointed in cooperative banks on the advice of lecturers of this college.

38. Development programmes for Non-teaching staff:

The non-teaching staff was encouraged to learn computer operation & Internet browsing in order

to make efficient administrative correspondence.

39. Best practices of the institution:

a. College has set up committees to monitor overall progress of the students & Organizes

special lecturers on spirituality and morality.

b. NSS Unit holds regular camps.

c. Regular fresher day and farewell functions are arranged.

d. Personality development programmes are arranged as a part of TQM for staff and students.

e. The college encourages students to participate in various competitions.

f. Staff members give cash prizes to the meritorious students.

g. Students are encouraged to participate in various activities like blood donation, AIDS

awareness programmes, and literacy campaigns, adult education, legal and environmental

awareness, preservation of Historical monuments.

h. Remedial classes are conducted for slow learners, and SC / ST students.

i. Extra classes on English Grammar & Mathematics are conducted for academically poor

students.

j. Library keeps open for longer time during examination days. Many books were given

to meritorious students & out-station students allowed stay in college during examination.

k. Each department at least one programme for increasing students personality.

l. College totally try to turns towards e-facility.

Many staff members write books and articles. They take due care in preparing the students to

face the challenges of the present. Sometimes, lecturers feel that the semester system in degree

courses would hurdle the creativity of the students as there will be no sufficient time for

prescribed curriculum.

PART-C

The following are the details of the plans in 2010-11.

1. As usual, to conduct tests, seminars, home assignments, group discussions, remedial classes on

required subjects and preparatory examinations in accordance with the internal calendar of events.

2. To provide computer for all departments of the college.

3. To arrange special lectures on various topics in the orientation programme to be held during the

second week of August, 2010 at our college.

4. To enforce the staff members to learn computer operation

5. To encourage the members of teaching staff to take up UGC minor research projects.

6. To start B.Sc. CBZ and B.Com courses.

7. Increase the number of computer systems up to 100.

7. To start Publication of useful literature on various concepts, if someone is ready to donate amount

required

8. To start digital library.

9. To start Post graduate courses.

10. Proposal has been sending to collegiate education, Bangalore for increasing number of Class

room building.
