ANGLO-SAXON ROMAN BRITAIN
- Anglo-Saxons invaded Britain in beetween fifth and sixth centuries.
- Anglo-Saxons were from northern Germany and Denmark.
- The Anglo-Saxon settled in Northern and Center England. They conquered Northumbia,East Anglia, part of Mercia, the Wessex and the Kent.
- The Anglo-Saxons felt threatened by the Picts, and for this reason they attacked Romans and they established many territories there.
LIFE IN ANGLO-SAXONS BRITAIN
- Most Anglo-Saxons invasors were farmers and deep-sea fisherman. They were organized in family groups called “clans”.In only “clan” there were a head.Only member of the clan was linked by the other members by a fidelity tie. They exalted physical courage and personal freedom and they cared for their beauty. They partecipated in many banquets and they worked with metals to create helmets, swords, shield and a lot of other objects and decorations.
GRAVE AT SUTTON HOO- Sutton Hoo, near Suffolk coast in
England is the site of two Anglo-Saxon cemeteries of the sixth and seventh centuries. It was discovered in 1939.
- One of the two cemeteries contained a funerary vessel complete with a large number of artifacts of great archaeological significance and artistic.
- The three main possessions found in the grave are: a ceremonial helmet;a shoulder-clasp and a sword.
- In the ship a person died. The corp of this person wasn’t found but probably this person was very rich.
- Archeologists think that the ship was dragged from the river to the hill for a trench.
- I think the grave belongs to Raedwald, the most powerful king in all England around 620.
