Notes From Pastor Todd
I have a ‘good feeling’ about our prospects of getting a new Seminary graduate to pastor our dual parish in the near future. I don’t have insider knowledge and I have to write this before we will actually know for sure or know the name of the individual. Don’t stop your prayers for him, his family and all the pastors and churches that are in a similar situation as us. The District meeting for all who actually receive a seminary graduate (7- possible in Michigan) is going to be held here at Trinity on April 30 from 9-2 and specific leaders of each congregation that receives a pastor are invited to that meeting.
We don’t know the timing of when he will arrive exactly, but there are preparations being made. Our people in leadership in both churches are not just letting this event happen; they are beginning to show a “hands on” approach as they meet together to discuss numerous issues that are appropriate and can have an impact on each church. For example: the installation of a new pastor will not be done in both places because most of the pastors of the circuit who are invited to these things cannot come to two in a row, and the Dual parish is ONE Call not two. Though fairness and equality are necessary elements in this 50/50 relationship, it would be wrong of our members to view things on a scorecard of sorts. It should operate more like a good marriage where sacrifices are made from both parties for the good of the common relationship.
A meeting of a larger representation of leadership from both churches is in the planning to discuss things the churches can do to put themselves in a better position for spiritual and numerical growth. A time of change can be a time of positive opportunity, but that only happens if we are proactive in helping to shape that time period, examine creative strategies, and have attitudes that reflect the mind of Christ. Change is also a time when the devil likes to attack and divide and bring confusion and frustration into the mix. We need to pray for protection from such attacks and guard against letting bad narratives work in our minds. Take every thought captive to Christ, says the Scriptures. We journey forward with Jesus-our King and Shepherd in the lead.
Blessings in Christ

A Life-Filled Prayer
A high school senior in Washington, D.C., offered this graduation prayer, which applies to
people of all ages:
“Dear God, grant us one thing before we leave the sheltered reassurance of our childhood.
Show us life. Not an empty, shallow world of shallow people and shallow dreams, but real
life. For we have known the bliss of childhood as well as the passion of adolescence.
“We want to make the world a better place, but we don’t know how. We want to throw our
arms around our brothers and our sisters, but our hands cannot reach. We want to break the
cycle of violence and the bonds of injustice in our society, but we’re not strong.
“Smile on us when we drink from the waters of truth. When we are old, reassure us that our
struggle helped make the world a kinder, gentler and more peaceful place. And please, God,
don’t let us die without ever having lived.”

the elders or ushers and ask that it be given to Pastor before worship. If your prayer request isn’t needed until later in the week, you can place it in the offering plate or place it on the secretary’s desk in the office.
