The American Flag

The American Flag originates from the 1700’s no one knows the real date the idea or the first flag ever made because no one knows who made it.

Most people give credit to Betsy Ross but it is not certain. Flags were originally made by hand but soon enough they began to make flags using machines and sometimes even mass producing

them in factories.

History Of the American Flag

The American Flag originally had 13 stars with 13 stripes. As more states joined they would add 1 star and 1 stripe. Eventually they had too many states and the flag was too big and looked weird so they changed the stripes to only represent the original 13 colonies. The star’s would represent the different states and from then on every time another state joined they would add a star instead of a star and a stripe.

The Pledge of AllegianceThe Pledge of allegiance was originally written in 1892 was adopted by Congress in 1942 the name was adopted in 1945. The last change was made on flag day 1954 when the words under god were introduced.

Basically the American Flag has had a long and extensive history Underwent several changes and is an important symbol of The United States of America.
