A statutory body known as the Employees· State Insurance Corporation has been set up

under the act to administer Employees· State Insurance Scheme. The body Corporation

is an autonomous body consisting of representative of the Central ate Govt., employers,

employees and others.

A Standing Committee of the Corporation shall be constituted from among its

members to administer the affairs of the Corporation.

The Central Government shall constitute a Medical Benefit Council to Advisethe Corporation and the Standing Committee on matters relating to the

administration of medical benefit

Employees· contribution-1.75 percent of the wages

Employers· contribution-4.75 percent of the wages

Total-6.50 percent of the wages

1st April to 30th Sept. 1st January of the following year to 30th June.

By discussing with the Insured Persons under ESI Act, ESI Manager & Inspector as

well as the HR manager of Emami Paper Mills Ltd. Following findings areidentified:-

1. ESI Act in Emami Paper Mills Ltd. Is operated smoothly with the help of grants

from State and Central govt.

2. Most of the employees Are insured under ESI Act.

3. By discussing with the senior officials the employees are getting PANCHDEEPfacilities

4. To ensure Medical Benefit, ESI dispensaries are been set up by the ESI

corporation in different places of Balasore

5. The employees of Emami Paper Mills Ltd. enjoy SicknessBenefit along with the

medical facilities.

6.There are few no. of female employees are working. So this benefit is not beingutilized by any of them till date.

7. If an Insured Person is injured in the cause of his work and permanently or

temporarily disabled, he will get Disablement Benefit in the form of cash in

installment.

8. if an insured person dies as a result of any employment injury sustained as an

employee his dependent are be entitled to periodical payment .

The Employee State Insurance Act 1948, is a piece

of social welfare legislation enacted primarily with

the object of providing certain benefits to

employees in case of sickness, maternity and

employment injury and also to make provision for

certain others matters incidental thereto.
