Don’t Forget to Attend Mass This Weekend Salvation history tells us that even before he was born, Jesus was called a “king”. The prophets
foretold that a newborn king would come and save the people. This didn’t sit too well with King
Herod and we know that he searched for this new ‘king’ because he didn’t want any competition.
Herod was a king who loved his power and authority. He made sure everyone knew just how
important he was. Jesus knew who he was and from whom he came. Jesus, the very Son of God,
did NOT use his power to harm or overwhelm people. He used all that he possessed to love
others, to bring healing to those who were sick, to give guidance to those who were lost, to give
LIFE to all who would have it. We have all read the beautiful stories of Jesus’ life in the gospels.
We know that men, women and children had their lives changed forever after encountering him.
We know the great love Jesus had for everyone he came in contact with ~ even those who
challenged him because he lived the will of his Father. This is the King we honor this coming
Sunday. This great feast day in the Church brings the Liturgical Year to a close. Throughout this
year we have heard the stories that are so much a part of our faith journey. We have heard the
words of Jesus inviting us to walk more closely with him ~ to love more compassionately as he
loves us ~ to forgive others and seek reconciliation so that we can truly serve God and our
brothers and sisters. Christ our King calls us to live our lives in such a way that nothing from
within this world can cause us to stumble or become unfocused as we walk the path of life. We
are called by HIS Father, we are chosen by HIS Father to live good and holy lives. Christ is not a
King to be feared or avoided. He is “our” King who is to be loved and trusted and followed. He
gives us all we need for a holy and wholesome life. He gives us the strength we need to face
life’s challenges. He gives us his very self in the Eucharist that we might be nourished. He gave
his life for us that we might have life eternal.
Prayers
Please continue to pray for all our St. Ann families, especially the families of Rocco & Charlie
Gasper, Camilla Geoghegan, Anand George, Adaliz, Tryztan & Zaylan Gibson, Keira Gilboy,
Margaret Gill, and Brett & Darren Gingrich for whom we are praying for this week. We also ask
that you keep Mrs. Bucha in your prayers.
Have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving Holiday. School will be closed from Wednesday,
November 27th
through Monday, December 2nd
