Conversions at PhilippiActs 16:1-40

Lesson 16

Timothy Bio• His mother and grandmother prepared the way for his decision to come

to Christ – they were the first in the family to come to Christ - this probably happened during Paul’s first journey. 2 Timothy 1:5

• His mother is Jewish and his father is a Greek• He probably witnessed Paul’s sufferings as a boy or a young man during

Paul’s first visit. 2 Timothy 3:10-11• Paul looked upon him as a son. He often called him his son in the faith.

Philippians 2:19-23 • The believers in Lystra and Iconium – a neighboring city just north of

Lystra – spoke highly of him. Acts 16:2

The Truth of NT CircumcisionRomans 2:29: and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Galatians 5:6: For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Colossians 2:11: In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self-ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ,

1 Corinthians 9:19-22: 19 Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.

Galatians 3:3: “O foolish Galatians! Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?”

Acts 16:9-10: “9 During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Acts 16:14b: The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message.

Job 35:10: But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker, Who gives songs in the night?’

Psalm 42:8: The Lord will command His loving-kindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me— a prayer to the God of my life.

“Songs in the night come only from God; they are not in the power of men.” – Charles Spurgeon

Acts 16:30: What must I do to be saved?

Acts 16:31: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.

Matthew 16:9: And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Revelation 1:8: I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

John 8:36: Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

1) he doesn’t have the authority to put us back into prison;

2) the door to the prison is open

Romans 15:13: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
