The U.S. is using atomic warfare to destroy their enemies and bomb their major cities.
is for Benjamin Franklin
In the rules and history of firemen, it says that Benjamin was the first fireman.
is for Captain Beatty
Captain Beatty was the antagonist of the story. He is the one that suspected Montag of having books.
is for Denham’s Dentifrice
Denham’s Dentifrice is the product being advertised to Montag on the train while he tries to memorize the Bible.
is for EmptinessPeople have such great emptiness in their heads. They have no comfortable seats to sit and think. People don’t think anymore.
is for Flamethrower
The flamethrower is the weapon that Montag used to burn his house and murder Beatty.
is for Guy MontagGuy Montag is the protagonist in the story. He is a Fireman. He’s married to a woman named Mildred.
is for HoundThe mechanical Hound is the fire dog. It is what hunts Montag after he murders Beatty.
is for Ironic
It’s ironic that firemen before used to put out fires and now they make them.
is for Jets
The Jets are foreshadowing that a major world event is about to take place.
is for KeroseneKerosene is what Montag and the other firemen used to start the fires to burn the books and the houses.

The police aren’t the main enforcers of the Law. The Firemen are.
is for McClellanClarisse McClellan is the 17 yr. old girl that got Montag thinking that burning books was the wrong thing to do. Instead they should be reading and writing them.
is for NeighborsMontag’s neighbors all came out to see the fire show that they were about to have at Montag’s house. (They were really watching Montag burning his own house.)
is for OverdoseMildred overdoses on her medicine and almost dies and Montag doesn’t know if it was suicide or an accident because she wasn’t thinking.
is for Professor Faber
Professor Faber is the retired English teacher who was helping Montag get though his problem with Beatty at the fire house through a micro-communicator.
is for Quick
The “Major War” that was in progress was predicted to be a quick war, a 72 hour war.
is for Ray BradburyRay Bradbury tries to imply that humanity will soon be so dependant on technology that we won’t be able to live without it. He was criticizing that the modern American is too lazy.
is for Snake
The snake is the long black tube that was used to suck the poison out of Mildred’s stomach after the overdose.
is for TelevisionMildred considers the characters in the interactive television as her family and cares more for them than for Montag.
is for Urbanization
Urbanization is taking place along the abandoned railroads. They’re developing communities known as Hobo camps.
is for Ventilator
The ventilator is the spot where Montag hid the books.
is for WomenThe women in Fahrenheit 451 would rather have c-sections than give actual birth to their children. Another way they try to make their lives as simple and plain as possible.
is for eX-fireman
Montag became an eX-fireman when he was being hunted as a fugitive.

WhY was the U.S. going to war and what country?
is for ZipperThe Zipper is a way that Beatty says how lazy the people of their country have gotten that they can’t even button a shirt they need to use a zipper.
