The 8 things you should be doing Daily on Twitter
Twitter is a useful tool for enhancing our social lives and connecting with people. Used to its
full potential it can connect you to potential new clients, customers or friends. Although it is
not always used to its full potential to create relationships or drive traffic to business or
personal websites. Here are 8 hints and tips you should be doing on a daily basis to get the
most out of this fantastic social media tool:
1. Retweeting – This is the life and soul of twitter and one of the reasons it has become
so successful. Sharing information is the idea behind retweeting someone else’s
tweets. It installs a little bit of loyalty too. Who knows they may even retweet your
tweets to their followers. Be careful though – Do not just retweet any thing. It
needs to be something your followers would like.
2. Reply – Building relationships is key in business. Makes sure you reply, in full, to
some of other people’s tweets. It could be a simple question or comment. They will
appreciate it and probably comment on your posts later down the line.
3. Recommend – People LOVE to be recognised for something they have done.
Recommend somebody to your followers. It will make you the focus of future
recommendations if it catches on! So, if someone has done something good for you,
tell others.
4. Refollow – Simply, f someone follows you then follow them back. It is best to review
who they are first. For example, you don’t want to follow a load of spammers!! Alot
of software you can will do this for you nowadays but if you are time rich you can
still do it by hand.
5. Business tweets – Make sure that you get the some business tweets in on a daily
basis. I would recommend 3-4. Remember, you are using twitter to promote
yourself OR your business. Use these tweets to recommend a product, your own
blog or a link. People will begin to see you in that industry and remember you.
6. Personal tweets – Being personal is a key point to social netwoks. Let people know
that they are dealing with a human being. The more people know about you, or at
least feel they do, the more they will feel that there is a relationship there.
7. Ask questions – Asking questions of your followers creates interaction. You want to
promote this as much as possible. Asking simple things like ‘What 3 things did you
achieve today’? allows you an opportunity to interact and chat about some of the
(sometimes strange) answers you may get. This all helps to build those relationships.
8. Chat – Do not be afraid to chat to people. It is too easy to not answer messages that
people send to you although this could be the difference between them
remembering you and your brand or not. It can also be fun so why not take time to
get to know someone and build those relationships.
