As a community we take pride in celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Kenora District Festival of the Arts. Over this space of time there have been many changes and challenges in the community, as well, there have been changes with the Festival. However, with strong spirit and a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers, teachers, and talented participants, we are able to celebrate this outstanding event. We confidently look forward to another 75+ years. The benefits of the Festival are numerous. It gives an opportunity for artists of all ages to showcase their talent before an appreciative audience. This is a very important part of the learning process. The performers will now have the opportunity to hear other musicians, actors, and see visual artists, all of whom will receive a professional, written adjudication for their effort. The goal of the Festival is to encourage all of the participants to do their best, and enjoy the enthusiasm of those around them. It is a known fact that participation in this type of activity has had very positive effects in the life skills of the individuals. I am always impressed when an individual mentions that he or she was in the Festival years ago and remembers it all with fond memories. In a number of cases they are encouraging children and friends to participate. I feel that it is very important for us as a community to keep this valuable asset alive and well. The arts play a very important part in the fabric of our community, and deserve the support and encouragement of all of us. Thank you to all of the many dedicated volunteers who contribute countless hours of work and support to the Festival. The Festival committee would like to offer special thanks to our loyal financial contributors for their continued and valued support. The Hi-Lites Concert this year is 7:00pm Saturday, MAY 4th at Knox United Church. See you at the Festival, Len Mark President

Artists, Family Members and Friends:
You are all invited to an Adjudication Session/ Reception to be held on Friday, April 5th
at the
Discovery Centre, starting at 7:00 p.m.. This is a fun and interesting evening and everyone (adult and
child) is invited to come and listen to a talk given by the Adjudicator. This is also an opportunity for
the Adjudicator to meet the artists as well as for artists to discuss their adjudications.
This applies to the young artists as well, so school children are encouraged to come and meet the
Adjudicator too, especially Senior Students, as they are likely to be the ones being considered for
Scholarships and meeting them can help the Adjudicator to decide.
