The stories of Maurice Fill the bay, Many hearts Loaned him a kingdom.

Light makes shadows Of form As the candle's womb melts. An old man cries Like an island That cannot swallow its waves, As a dream falls away.

Maurice, Down the candle's blood, Falls to history Where numb ghosts Heaped in wax suicides Lie at Grenada's end.
