  • FROM THE PASTOR. . . . . . . . . . .

October is the month for nominating leadership for the upcoming year. We need great souls who love Jesus Christ and who want to see this Church continue to fulfill its mission to Marianna and to the Kingdom of God.

I am grateful for the high quality lay leadership I have encountered in thirty years of ministry. Some of the great souls I have come across were people who loved their church and were willing to give time and resources to make the church successful.

Clergy, in our tribe, are always in the hunt for good leadership. We seek those who want to “grow themselves” as Ken Callahan has reminded us…for the betterment of the church. Bill Hybels writes, “Everyone wins when a leader gets better.”

Therefore, we seek persons whom the church will hold in high esteem and who keep an eye on the bottom line, their eye on the future, their finger on the pulse of the congregation and who listen to the whisper of the Spirit of God.

Every year one third of the Finance Committee, The Board of Trustees, and the Staff Parish Committees are replaced. We change lay leaders, and some of our committee leaders have served their terms very well.

As the chair of the Committee on Nominations, I want each of you to pray. Pray for a heart that is willing to serve. Pray that God will speak to you in those quiet moments and if you are given a desire to serve… send me a word so that I might put your name forward. And finally, pray that God will provide new and fresh leadership that will launch us into the future.

    Faithfully Yours,

    William E. Elwell Pastor

Disciple Class Schedule / Ladies Bible Study

    Disciple1

Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study, is one of the greatest Bible Study and group experiences ever known. Millions of people have walked from Genesis through Revelation and grown from the 34 week experience of reading Godʼs word and watching their faith increase greatly. This fall we will schedule a DAY TIME class on Thursday from 9:00-11:00am. Class will begin on September 5th.

    Disciple 3

Remember Who You Are, is a 32 week study covering the works of the prophets and the letters of Paul. With the use of maps and other resources this study (for those who have completed Disciple 1) will occupy the spot on Monday evenings (6-8pm) previously set for Disciple 1. Even if you have taken it before, there are new discoveries awaiting those who are willing to travel with Paul and hear, once again, the words of the Old Testament Prophets. Class will begin on September 9th.

Ladies Bible Study --- Judy Duell will be leading a Ladies Bible Study “Study of Revelations” by Beth Moore starting on Tuesday, Sept 3 at 9:00am it will run for 11 weeks. If you would like to join please email or call the Church office to sign up.

  • Our Children’s Ministry

Excitement is building as the start of our new schedule of programs for children approaches. Our children are instrumental to the life and continuation of the Church. With that in mind, a group of Church members have met, realizing the importance of providing direction and leadership for our young people. Although there is more work to be done, we hope the updated schedule of activities will jump start our Children’s Ministry. Some of our plans are new to this church, while others are “time tested” experiences that will continue. Please discuss the changes with your children so they will know what to expect on October 6th. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to discuss these with us. Changes in Childrens’ Worship: Moments with the Children will continue as part of the Worship service each Sunday, except the first Sun. of each month, Communion Sunday. Janie Nolen and Becky Grimsley have agreed to lead this program with our children. They welcome participation from other church members to share in this ministry opportunity. Childrens’ Church will be provided for each child 3 years through 5th grade. An exciting new curriculum has been selected. Children will leave the sanctuary following Moments with the Children with designated adults. Worship packets will be available for any children wishing to remain with their parents during the service. These packets will located on the front pews. Parents, please bring and pick up your children from their classrooms. As attendance increases, our concerns for each child’s safety also increases. Moving our children up and down stairs could be hazardous.Thank you for all your prayers and words of encouragement. There is more to come, but we feel this will give a good solid start toward building the best program for our children. We are dreaming..... BIG DREAMS!! Yours in Christ, Susan Kunde and Becky Grimsley
