survey says...!Following are the results of the January 2016 eBulletin survey. As a remind-er, the eBulletin goes out via email each Friday morning to 400+ parish families and individuals. While it includes main articles from the paper Sunday Bulletin, it also includes additional articles and announcements that will not fit in the Sunday Bulletin. We had 80+ responses, which is wonderful.

• 76% of respondents read the eBulletin on Friday, when they receive it. • 66% of respondents have been receiving the eBulletin for more than three years. • 66% of respondents also take the Sunday Bulletin home each week. • 33% of respondents forward some or all of the eBulletin to family and friends. • 52% of respondents often or sometimes check the parish website, while 48% rarely or never do. • 75% of respondents feel they have a good understanding of the parish’s financial condition, while 20% indicated they would like more information on this topic. The positive comments included the timeliness of the eBulletin, includ-ing just-in-time reminders for parish events and funerals. Also appreciated is the range of topics included (parish events, diocesan events, universal church and local events) and the reality that there is no size limitation.

Suggested improvements include considering a more formatted eBulletin, organizing the eBulletin by topics and group, rather than chronologically, linking from index to article, was well as including more information (and including LESS information and making it shorter!)

The parish staff and Communications Board will be considering the sug-gestions received. We thank you for your input. To sign-up for the eBulletin, send email to [email protected] and we will add you to the list.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Chris Lundin, eBulletin Editor

1st Sunday in Lent –Feb. 14, 2016

tuesday, February 9: sPIrItualIty tuesday asseMbly

Sunday, February 14, is Valentine’s Day. This is a celebration of roman-tic love, but this is not the only form of love there is. When the ancient Greeks spoke of love in the gospel, they were not necessarily talking of romance. These ancient writers used four different words for love: Eros, romantic love; philia, friendship love; storge, a familial love; agape, spiritual love. This final type of love is the form that the great religious traditions often talk about. We will discuss what love really is and what it is not. Broaden your knowledge of Scripture and join our speaker, Deacon Daniel Hernandez at St. Albert the Great Hospitality Center At 7:00 pm.

ash Wednesday Is February 10th!Our celebrations of the Eucharist on Ash Wednesday, which includes the blessing and distribution of ashes, will be at 7:15 AM, 12:15 PM 6 PM & 8 PM (Gregorian) at St. Thomas Aquinas Church; 8:30 AM & 7:30 PM (Spanish) at Our Lady of the Rosary Church; 10 AM (School) & 7 PM at St. Albert the Great Church. Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all the Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from eating meat. All who are 14 years of age and above are bound by this law, and there is no upper age limit. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are also days of fast. This law binds those who are 18 to 59 years of age. Please read and post in your home the Lenten handout which gives more details about all this and other Lenten events.

“rejoIcIng In god’s Mercy – together In chrIst”Report # 2 - ADA Goal: $135,000

Pledged: $71,521 * Pledges: 121 * Average Pledge: $591 * % of Goal: 53%Our thanks to the 50 parishioners who turned in their gifts and pledges on this second week of our 2016 ADA season. So far 61 have made pledges that were equal to their 2015 pledge. Thiry four have increased their 2015 pledge, while 13 pledges were less than 2015. Thirteen people have pledged in 2016 who were unable to pledge in 2015. There are 6 weeks remaining in this year's campaign. With everyone's participation, we can meet and surpass our ADA goal; however, this will only be possible if every parish household participates according to their means. Remember, payments can be made over the next 10 months. A pledge of $500 is just $50 a month. Use your Visa or MasterCard, make an Electronic Funds Transfer from your checking account, or donate online at dsj.org. Anything raised above our ADA goal will directly benefit St. Thomas Aquinas!
