1. Do you have the Facebook pixel on your website and ALL landing pages?

What’s the Facebook pixel?

A piece of code (specific to your ad account) that is added between in the heading of your website.

It is important to also add the pixel code to any webpages hosted outside of your main website, such as LeadPages.

Why is it important?

The pixel serves three purposes:

1. It allows you to show ads to people who have visited your website2. It allows you to show ads to people who have common demographics,

interests, and behaviors with people who have visited your website. 3. It allows you to share information with Facebook. So, when someone

opts-in to your email list, downloads your lead magnet, or purchases your product, Facebook will know.

The sooner you add the pixel, the more data you’ll give to Facebook for all future ad campaigns. Even if you don’t plan to run Facebook ads in the near future, install the pixel now so you have the data when you’re ready.

With nearly two billion users, you can bet that your audience IS on Facebook. Facebook knows a lot about their users, so you can get very specific with your targeting.

When starting a new campaign, I start by targeting a variety of audiences. Here are some examples:

Colder Audiences● Lookalike Facebook Fans● Lookalike Email Subscribers● Lookalike Website Visitors

5. How will you get your audience’s attention?

We figured out who should see your ad. Now we need to figure out the message and the visual aspect of your ad.

Message: This is the long-form text, the headline, and the news feed description. What will make your ad stand out? What will make your audience click? Brainstorm (and test!) a variety of combinations.

Visual: Do you want to show an image, a video, a slideshow, a carousel, or a canvas? What kind of image will resonate with your audience? How will you stand out in their news feed?

Glossary:● Campaign - This is the overarching umbrella that contains your ad sets and ads. I recommend having one

campaign for each goal. For example, create separate campaigns to drive traffic to Blog Post A and another to drive traffic to Blog Post B. And create yet another campaign to promote your lead magnet to grow your email list.

● Ad set - The ad set is where you are able to set your budget, schedule, audience, placement of the ad (where the ad will be shown) and the optimization and delivery. Within each ad set, you can have multiple ads. I recommend having one ad per ad set.

● Ad - This is the creative part of the campaign that will be shown to the audience(s) you select. ● Ads Manager - This is the tool that can be used for creating, editing, and monitoring campaigns.● Power Editor - The Power Editor is similar to the Ads Manager, but Facebook rolls out new functionality in the

Power Editor first. My preference is to create campaigns in the Power Editor and monitor ad results in the Ads Manager.

● Lookalike audience - A Lookalike audience is where Facebook will find more people with similar demographics, interests, and behaviors like your core audiences, such as email subscribers, website visitors, and Facebook Fans.

● Target - You are directing Facebook to show your ad to specific audiences. ● Test - Testing is a big part of Facebook ad success. As much as we want Facebook ads to be set it and forget it,

there is always tweaking and testing involved. Examples: testing different audiences, creatives (images, headlines, etc).
