CompendiumWinter/Spring

A Note From the PresidentWelcome to our compendium issue, featuring a summation of last year’s most popular stories and covers. Demi Lovato’s 360 cover was released 2.5 weeks right before her “Cosmopolitan Latina of the Year” international cover broke. After her tweet about being on the cover of 360, our timeline literally kept moving for almost four weeks. Tamar Braxton had the biggest R&B album Love and War since Angie Stone’s 1999 debut. One of our most prolific covers had to be The Who – they even posted it on their Facebook page with an audience of about 6 million, garnering a whole other audience for us. Shortly after, Gabrielle Aplin adorned our cover right after her Warner Bros. Records contract signing, British Vogue spreads, and TIME online feature. But, 2014’s breakout celebrity had to be Bella Thorne. She has graced the cover of Seventeen Magazine (a few times) as well as the pages of Teen Vogue and Vanity Fair. Not to mention, her incredible Blended movie box office success was spectacular. Two Thorne covers later, we kept it sassy with Jasmine V – newly signed Interscope ingénue. She too was named “Cosmopolitan Latina of the Year” and was featured in Teen Vogue, in addition to her Latina Magazine cover. After being a huge draw at the Budweiser Made in America Festival, we witnessed a megastar be born, Steve Aoki (the son of the Benihana founder Rocky Aoki) – mentioned by Forbes as one of the top DJs of last year, raking in almost 23 million dollars, boosted by endorsements with Bud Light, Guitar Center and Scion. (In fact, some of the attendees at the MIA Fest included On The Run Tour stars Beyoncé and Jay Z.) This cake-tossing, champagne-spraying EDM mogul – with a social following of more than 10 million people – pedals his own eyewear/apparel/record company, Dim Mak. To date, he has collaborated with the likes of Linkin Park, Snoop Dogg, Kid Cudi, Kid Ink, Lil Jon and will.i.am. We shot him at supperclub los angeles (powered by XXIV Karat Champagne) during a massive police brutality protest spearheaded by Anonymous. Believe it or not, we cornrowed one side of his hair and had him engage in mischievous behavior by spray painting “Aoki: Dim Mak” on the back wall of the venue.

While we celebrate his Neon Future album series release, we, 360, are ready for what the year of 2015 will bring us to share with all of you.

- VAUGHN LOWERY, President/Editorial Director
