Presenting our school
The 1st Lyceum of Giannitsa is an upper secondary school
situated in Giannitsa, about 50 km from Thessaloniki.
It consists of about 400 students, who live in the
centre of the city and come to Lyceum after
spending three years at one of the local Junior
High Schools. Their age ranges from 15

After completing 3 year schooling, students are examined on a nationwide scale and are admitted to universities according to their choice and their level of performance in the subjects of
their direction. Each lesson has a difficult factor, depending on the direction that the student has chosen and the university.
Apart from the compulsory lessons, the students of the second andthird grade have to attend one of following lessons of their choice:- Information Technology- Foreign Language (French, German)- Line / Freehand Drawing- Astronomy- European Literature- Economic Theories
School facilities
Our school provides sports facilities: a gym and outdoor fields for volleyball and basketball.
The school has also a technology room, which provides ample multimedia theatre and conference facilities, two laboratories, a
chemistry room and a library.

The Comenius Project
70 members of our school (teachers and students) take part in the Comenius Project: “Been there, done that as a young european citizen
(2012-2014)”, which enhances and increases partnership between schools in different EU Member States and encourages language learning, services and better teaching techniques and practices.
