Welcome to my “5 Essential Beautifying Green Smoothie Recipes” eBook.

My intention in sharing this “essential” information with you is to assist you in enhancing and elevating your energy levels, your vitality, your unique beauty and your immune system so that you can more powerfully pursue your dreams and share your gifts with the world.

My green smoothie recipes are loaded with leafy green goodness as well as powerful superfoods. This combination will skyrocket your energy levels, give your skin a dewy glow, and boost your confidence levels so that sharing who you are feels easier and more natural to you.

It’s amazing that a curious green concoction can do all of these amazing things, but it’s true. Try drinking a green smoothie everyday for 5 days and feel the difference for yourself. I think you’ll be really amazed.

You may already be a seasoned green smoothie drinker, and if you are you know very well what I’m talking about here. I invite you to take things to the next level for yourself and begin using high alkaline (pH above 7.0) water to blend your smoothies. Alicia’s Top Tips for Creating an Amazing Green Smoothie Every Time

1. If possible, use a high powered blender to blend your smoothie into creamy, completely liquefied smoothie. This is not a requirement, but I have found that using a more conventional blender often leaves bits of green leaves or half-blended produce, which to me feels more like a “lumpy” than a true “smoothie”…

2. Place your liquids and high water content (or juicy) produce into the blender carafe first. This way, the blades will catch the produce and liquefy it, creating a vortex, or a little “tornado” inside your blender carafe that will pull the other non-juicy ingredients down into the blades. Blending all of your ingredients will go faster, and you will have a creamier smoothie.

If you add your leafy greens and powders into your blender first, the blades will only slice them up, but they won’t create the vortex. The rest of your produce will simply sit on top and you’ll be left with a blender carafe of produce that doesn’t come close to resembling a smoothie!

3. Be certain to completely seal the lid to the blender on to the carafe before you start blending. It’s the surefire way to avoid wearing your green smoothie and painting your kitchen walls green!

4. When you begin blending your smoothie, start on a low speed to allow the blades to catch the produce, create the vortex, and pull the remaining ingredients down into the blades. If you increase the speed too fast too quickly, most of your smoothie will end up in the lid and on the sides of the blender carafe instead of down in the blades where it will be properly liquefied and incorporated.

Slowly increase the speed until on high. Blend at the highest speed for a few seconds, and then when your smoothie looks like it’s been completely blended and appears to be creamy and smooth, turn the speed back down to low before turning the blender off. You may choose to use a preset program on your blender that will do this for you.

5. Use a spoon to taste test your smoothie. Leafy greens can be bitter tasting and off-putting. You can add ½ a peeled banana, ½ an apple, a pitted date (or two), or a few drops of liquid stevia to balance the flavors so you enjoy every last sip, slurp and drop of your smoothies. Life is just too short to eat food that doesn’t taste good!

6. Whenever possible, serve your green smoothie in a pretty glass. To me, this elevates the entire green smoothie experience and makes it feel more “special”. And who doesn’t like feeling “special”?? I like to use stemmed or non-stemmed wine glasses, martini glasses, or a tall, pretty glass with a straw.

Garnish your smoothie or glass with a piece of fruit, a dash of spice, or a sprinkle of superfoods like bee pollen, raw cacao nibs or shredded unsweetened coconut. This adds an extra superfood punch and some texture to your smoothie that will make it more beautiful. Then, take the time to sit and enjoy your smoothie and notice how much more satisfied you feel once you are complete.

Hormone Balancing Chocolate - Banana SmoothiePrep Time: 5 minutesYield: 24 oz.

3 bananas, peeled and broken into halves2 Tbsp raw cacao powder1 tsp maca powder1 cup fresh spinach leaves1 cup coconut water or high alkaline water, or more to blendpinch high mineral salt

1. Place the bananas, cacao powder, maca powder, coconut water and salt into a blender and blend until all of the ingredients are well incorporated.

2. Add the spinach leaves and blend until completely smooth and creamy.

3. Adjust the amount of coconut water to achieve the consistency you desire. More coconut water will create a thinner, more liquid smoothie. Less will create a thicker and creamier smoothie.

4. Serve immediately, garnishing each smoothie with a sprinkle of cacao powder.

5. Stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator, Hormone Balancing Smoothie will keep for 2 days.

A Note from Alicia: I know very few women who don’t crave chocolate. There’s just something about it that makes everything a little bit better! Do you agree?

There have been a lot of studies about the chemical make-up of chocolate and what makes us love it so. It’s rich in serotonin – the feel good chemical – as well as antioxidants, minerals, and PEAs, the chemicals the body produces when it falls in love. Suffice it to say, cacao is made up of some really good stuff!

The real gem in this smoothie, however, is the maca powder. Maca is an incredible strength and stamina enhancer, as well as a fantastic hormone balancer. When paired with the benefits of the cacao powder, this smoothie promises to not only taste delicious, but also help you glide through a stress-filled day with a beautiful sense of power and resilience.

For a slightly frothier smoothie, and a great warm weather treat, try using frozen bananas instead.

Mood Enhancing Superfood Smoothie:Prep Time: 7 minutesYield: 32 oz.

1. Place bananas, avocado, dates, vanilla, turmeric, salt, mint and spinach into a blender carafe. Then add the coconut or high alkaline water to blend until smooth and creamy.

2. Serve immediately and top your smoothie with a few raw cacao nibs for crunch and superfood goodness!

3. Stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator, Mood Enhancing Superfood Smoothie will keep for 48 hours.

Immune Boosting Citrus & Mint SmoothiePrep Time: 8 minutesYield: 32 oz.

2 oranges, peeled and rough chopped1 red grapefruit, peeled and rough chopped1 apple, cored and rough chopped20 leaves fresh mint1 cup fresh spinach leaves1 Tbsp local bee pollen1 cup coconut water or high alkaline water

1. Place the citrus, apple and greens into a blender carafe, then add the bee pollen and coconut or high alkaline water.

2. Blend until completely smooth and creamy, and serve immediately.

3. Stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator, “Immune Boosting Citrus & Mint” Smoothie will keep for 2 days.

A Note from Alicia:

Believe it or not, I don’t always drink green smoothies. Sometimes the time of year, the temperature outside, and the clear messages from my body say “no thank you” to the notion of a green smoothie for breakfast or any other meal. But even during the cold weather months I do find my way back into my green smoothie routine. This immune boosting smoothie is the perfect way to begin!

Cleansing and detoxification feel very natural to the body when we’ve eaten foods we don’t normally eat (like, say, during the holiday season...). The citrus, apple and greens in this recipe will help your body release mucus and support your immune system with high doses of vitamin C and bio-flavinoids. The addition of local bee pollen adds protein and a lovely sweetness to your smoothie. Finally, the coconut water helps to hydrate and re-mineralize your body so you can feel replenished and ready for anything.

I’m Feeling Good Mango - Mint & Ginger Green SmoothiePrep Time: 5 minutesYield: 32 oz.

3 cups mango, fresh or frozen20 leaves fresh mint (stems are okay, too)½” fresh ginger root, or more to taste1 Tbsp local bee pollen2 cups fresh leafy greens (kale, spinach, lettuces, etc.)1 ½ cups high alkaline water or coconut water

1. Place the mango into your blender carafe, and top with fresh mint, ginger, bee pollen and leafy greens.

2. Add high alkaline water or coconut water, and blend.

3. Stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator, Mango - Mint & Ginger Green Smoothie will keep for 48 hours.

A Note from Alicia:

Whenever I eat mango, I think of the artist-poet Sark and her book “Eat Mangoes Naked”. There is something innately sexy about mangoes, and this smoothie is no exception to that truth. The mint lifts the flavor and aids in digestion, while the ginger is warming to the body. The leafy greens offer powerful, heart opening nutrition and nourishment.

Sometimes the simplest recipes have the greatest impact.

To switch things up, you can replace the water with coconut water. This substitution provides an excellent antidote to dehydration, making this smoothie a fantastic go-to post-workout drink. Enjoy!

Creamy & Comforting Apples & Spice Green SmoothiePrep Time: 6 minutesYield: 24 oz.

2 medium sized apples, cored and rough chopped3 Tbsp raw cashew butter1 tsp pumpkin pie spice¼ tsp vanilla extract½ tsp maca powder1 cup fresh spinach1½ cups high alkaline water(optional: 1 scoop vegan protein powder in a neutral flavor, or experiment with vanilla, chocolate or chai flavors as desired)

1. Place the apples, cashew butter, flavorings and maca into the blender carafe, then add the protein powder, spinach leaves, and water.

2. Blend until smooth and creamy, then serve immediately.

3. Stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator, this “Creamy & Comforting ” green smoothie will keep for 48 hours.
