NORTH AMERICAN MARTYRS PARISH COMMUNITY

Since his arrival in midFebruary as your Pastor at North American Martyrs Parish, Father William Agyemang’s enthusiasm and zeal have been well received by many parishioners. Indeed, a number have commented favorably on his winning personality. At the same time, it has been apparent that difficulties have arisen regarding good order and organization at the parish.

While remaining your pastor at this time, Archbishop Blair has asked Fr. Agyemang to step back and to reflect on how his personality and leadership style affect his pastoral ministry and impact his parishioners. Your prayers for him during this period are greatly appreciated.

We are grateful to Father Gustavo Lopez for agreeing to serve as Temporary Administrator during this time of Father Agyemang’s absence from the parish.

PENTECOST SUNDAY

Again this year in recognition of the groups which compose the North American Martyrs Parish, we will celebrate an 11:00am Parish Mass in English, Spanish, and Twi at St. Isaac Jogues Church on May 20th, Pentecost Sunday. In conjunction with the Ghanaian and Hispanic Ministries, the readings will be prayed in all three languages. Choirs from all of the various components of our Parish will enhance and enrich this most special celebration. The parish picnic will follow the Mass in the grove at St. Isaac Jogues.

Everyone from the Parish is invited to attend this joyous celebration of the birthday of the Church. Please bring your lawn chairs. We are looking for donations of water, soda, salads, hot foods, and volunteers to help setup and cleanup on the day of the picnic. You can signup at Mass. A picnic representative will be at the doors of the church.

SECOND COLLECTION...

...Next Weekend is the regular monthly collection

for the support of our Parish Churches.

PASTORAL REFLECTIONS

I would like to announce to the whole community that Archbishop Leonard Blair has appointed me as Temporary Administrator of North American Martyrs Parish. As Temporary Administrator, my primary responsibility is to maintain the weekly schedule of Masses and pastoral services, to sign the payroll checks and to pay bills for the ordinary expenses that come due. I am not authorized to make any capital expenditures, nor am I to make any changes in the parish staff.

I am very grateful of this notification from Archbishop Blair, and I am very committed to continue to build upon the foundation and work that the former pastors did to make the Parish become today a model of people of faith coming together, working together, and sharing our faith together.

At the end of his appointment letter, Archbishop Blair assured us his grateful prayers to all in our parish. As we go through this time of transition, may we always be there for each other with our support and prayers.

Thanks for all you have done and may God Bless you all.

Fr. Gustavo Lopez
