“Thanksgiving”
“The event that (we) commonly call the „First Thanksgiving‟
was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New
World in 1621. This feast lasted three days and was attended by about
53 Pilgrims and 90 American Indians. The New England colonists
were accustomed to regularly celebrating "thanksgivings"—days of
prayer thanking God for blessings such as military victory or the end
of a drought.” (Wikipedia)
Generally, we celebrate Thanksgiving with a grand meal
consisting of roast turkey and dressing. We like the parade and look
forward to a day of football and family, usually in that order. Unless
challenged to truly think about our reasons for giving thanks, our
reflection is often lifted in a few sentences during our blessing prayer
for the meal.
As we move into this “Season of Thankfulness”, let‟s truly
remember the graciousness of our Lord.
Psalm 95:2
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with
music and song. 1 Thessalonians 3:9
How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the
joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?
2 Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
We serve an awesome God and he has
blessed us with a wonderful church family!
Thankfully,
Dr. Robert Brink

PRAYER FRESHENER FOR THE MONTH “One day George Mueller began praying for five of his friends. After many months, one of them came to the Lord. Ten years later, two others were converted. It took 25 years before the fourth man was saved. Mueller persevered in prayer until his death for the fifth friend, and throughout those 52 years he never gave up hoping that he would accept Christ! His faith was rewarded, for soon after Mueller’s funeral the last one was saved.”
Studio Ten/Guardian Village Ministries has been ministering to the orphaned, widow and outcast in
Kathmandu, Nepal since 1999 in this predominately Hindu nation.
The ministry of Studio Ten is diverse and holistic in its scope and is summarized by: Mercy, Media and
Mobilization.
Mercy: rescuing abused, vulnerable or abandoned children and women and developing the communities
who put their members at risk in the first place.
Media: producing indigenous Gospel audio and visual recordings
Mobilization: Evangelism, Discipleship, Training, Mentoring and Church Planting
Guardian Village Handicrafts is making a difference in the lives of these Nepali women and children.
While the children are nurtured and given a high quality education, GVH is empowering women to make
an honest, respectable living so they can properly care for their own children. The women are trained and
equipped to produce beautiful hand beaded jewelry and accessories. As the handcrafted items are sold,
the proceeds are returned to Nepal to provide the food, clothing, shelter and education for the children
who have been rescued from risk.
EMMANUEL PROJECT 2013 Love, Inc. is looking for sponsors to do the shopping

this Christmas. Complete a

I would like to extend my
sincere thanks to you for
showing such care and
concern towards my family
when my father passed. I
would also like to thank you
for the beautiful tapestry
(Psalm 122:1). I will cherish it
for as long humanly possible. I find comfort in
the fact that I know that my father is in a better
place and that I was able to have him for the
time I was allotted.
Jo Ann & Matthew Clem
Thanks to all the Pastors for the visits. Thank
you to my church family for the prayers, care
bag, flowers and meals. You all are what makes
DCOG special.
Terri & Greg Sonner
Thank you for the visits, gift card, and prayers.
Thanks to Pastor Brink for his visit and prayer
also. I appreciate you all who shared with me.
Jerry Olalde
Thank you so much for the beautiful memorial
blanket. We will cherish it forever!!
Darlene (Geyer) Johnson Family
Shawn Geyer & Family
Thank you for the gift, visits from Pastor KC,
Sandy and Jerry and the prayers during my hip
replacement surgery.
Brent Habegger
We offer a very warm “THANK YOU” for all of the
prayers, well wishes, and pastoral visits from the
congregation of the Decatur Church of God.
Your kindness and support during a difficult
time in our lives will not be forgotten.
Roger & Linda Call
THANK
YOU
POINT OF IMPACT Team IMPACT continues to monitor
the cultural impact of things going on
in our nation. As we look into issues
we feel might threaten our Biblical
values and religious freedom, we ask
you to pray with us for our Nation and
our leaders. We can criticize our lead-
ers or we can pray for them. Pray that
God will touch their lives and hearts.
Our prayers are our most important
defense. Revival will not come from
the government, but from our church
only if we his people pray.
We are Christians first and Americans
second. Our first commitment is God
and prayer. To quote Dietrich
Bonhoeffer: “Silence in the face of
evil is itself evil; God will not hold us
guiltless. Not to speak is to speak.
Not to act is to act.”
PRAY
Send a singing greeting to someone this Christmas. Our youth will
again be caroling to those special people you want to wish a
Merry Christmas! More details next month.
