Dear St. Cyprian's Family and Friends,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to welcome you to St. Cyprian’s Bayou Bash! Thank you for being here to show your support for our school. An event such as this would not be possible without the help from our army of volunteers who have worked so hard to make this night memorable for you. Thank you volunteers and parents, both past and present, for a job well done!

We are thankful and excited that you are here to participate in another festive celebration uniting former students, parents, grandparents, community friends and other supporters of St. Cyprian's. Bayou Bash is all about having great food, fun, and fellowship while supporting a tremendous and worthy cause – our school.

Over the past 65 years, there has been a legacy of excellence in education at St. Cyprian’s with a focus on outstanding curriculum, a commitment to Christian values, and the development of leaders in our community. Everyday we ask and expect our students to “Learn with Confidence”, “Serve with Compassion” and “Lead with Courage”. In short, we expect them to Walk As Lions.

Two years ago, St. Cyprian’s Episcopal School began a Capital Campaign for improvements and developments. The first part of the Campaign set the stage for our continued improvement in our physical plant and, more importantly, in our students’ academic success. The Capital Campaign has several stages of development and we are moving forward with your help.

Most importantly though, this annual celebration and fundraiser highlights our children and the all-important roles that your school plays in molding them into well prepared, exceptional students. Your support tonight is critical in maintaining our standard of an extraordinary education for your children. Please have fun and give freely! 410. Hand-woven Rug from Afghanistan! This “Super Kazakh” carpet was hand-woven and hand-knotted by Uzbek tribal weavers living in modern-day Afghanistan. “Super Kazakh” carpets are known for their indigo blues, reds, and ivories as well as their coarse, shiny wool and large scale patterns. The rug measures 2.5’ x 4’, and its borders are heavily patterned featuring several variations of the latch-hook and reciprocal saw-tooth pattern that is often seen in oriental carpets. While the design of “Super Kazakh” carpets closely resembles the carpets of the American Southwest, the construction technique and colors used vary considerably, creating a distinct difference between the two. Traditionally, owning a carpet of this quality was a sign of the owner’s wealthy status. These rugs were often woven with strands of silver and gold and were placed in palaces, churches, and in the palatial homes of the super-rich. These ultra-luxurious rugs were not just used as floor coverings. They often adorned palace walls and were even placed on the throne of kings.
