Middle and high school teachers, strap in and let your imaginations take flight! Learn the basics of aeronautics and how your students will participate in the correlating Principles of Flight Exploration workshop. This workshop includes interactive STEM education for grades 6 to 12.

Teachers of middle and high school students get ready to take circuits to a whole new level! littleBits are simple, small blocks that make engineering complicated circuits fun, easy and educational. The simplicity of the design takes the students ingenuity and challenges them to think both logically and creatively.

The new Legos workshop allows both middle school and high school teachers to put the simple back in simple machines. Our advanced Lego kits enable teachers to introduce complex lessons in a fun new way. The Exploreum Education Department has an array of lesson plans that go from structured to free form, building student’s engineering skills as well as their confidence.

auditoriums or gymnasiums with high ceilings and

crowds no larger than 250 for visibility purposes.

The cost is $300 for the first show and $200 for each

additional show for the same day same location. We

travel within a one-hour radius of the Exploreum. A

50% deposit will be required at the time of booking.

Please make your reservations 30 days in advance.

Learn more about the skin you’re in and how to live life to the fullest by

making healthy choices. At the core of good health is personal

empowerment. The My BodyWorks gallery and healthy lifestyle programming

urges visitors to test their physical fitness, explore whole systems, and learn

about food for life. Sir Isaac Newton’s first law states that a body in

motion will remain in motion, and a body at rest will stay at rest. My Body-

Works serves as the catalyst that sets those bodies in motion.

Welcome to our physical science playground, where kids and kids at heart will

love to push, pull and tinker with the science all around them! Hands on Hall

focuses on simple sciences including basic physics, magnetism, probability

and simple mechanics. Students have so much fun that they don’t even

realize how much they’re learning.

Designed for the smallest of our scientists, the Wharf of Wonder is a learning adventure for kids ages 0-5. Pre-kindergarten teachers can reserve a unique Wharf of Wonder field trip that includes hands-on activities and special programs for our youngest explorers.

Scratch Factory is a constantly evolving exhibit space that promotes playful innovation in a variety of disciplines. This 6,500 square foot creative playground is full of open-ended Science, Technology, Engineering and Math activities infused with the ARTS – STE(A)M. Students will rotate among four workshops exploring and testing their ideas; TinkerWorks, AeroWorks, ArtWorks and ExploreTEC. Light, sound and optics areas are also coming soon. With a wide variety of changing programming throughout the gallery, students can work together, collaborating on creative activities designed to spark curiousity, foster exploration, and inspire creativity. Students will be able to “think with their hands” by designing, constructing and testing their own creations. Scratch Factory marries the technical with the creative, enabling students to not just be technology consumers, but technology creators!

“Loved it! The kids spent hours doing these activities. Loved that they could follow the directions and create things with minimal adult help.”

ExploreTECThis area is the Exploreum’s newest laboratory – dedicated to technology and engineering careers. Aside from traditional staff-led demonstrations, students will be able to experiment with “high tech” tinkering activities in a colorful and inviting environment.

AeroWorks - Build, Launch and SoarStudents will explore the principles of flight and aeronautics. Budding engineers can build their own paper airplanes, test the aerodynamics in a mini wind tunnel and see how far their designs actually fly above a simulated runway. Students will explore mechanics by flying a model airplane inside its own wind tunnel, and put on a pair of foam wings and step into a human-sized wind tunnel to feel the lift of flowing air. Students can also build their own mini-parachutes and test their effective-ness inside vertical wind tubes.

TinkerWorks - Invent, Play and CreateThis area is located inside an unusual “crooked house” and features a large pegboard wall where students create their own marble roller coasters, construct pinwheels and much more. New activities are constantly being added to TinkerWorks.

ArtWorks - Design, Imagine and CreateIn this area, students can experiment with various art materials to create their own masterpieces. Students will learn how the arts are infused with science and math. Artworks is an opportunity for visitors to connect the visual arts to real world concepts.
