NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN PUBLICATION PLANNING
INTRODUCTIONS
• Faculty: Hajira Koeller graduated from Weill Graduate School, Cornell University, New York, NY with a PhD in Neuroscience. She started her professional career in publishing as the Editor for Trends in Neurosciences, Cell Press, Elsevier, Cambridge, MA. Hajira then transitioned to medical publications, first as a Scientific Writer and later as a Scientific Specialist at PAREXEL Inc, Waltham, MA. Following her interests in clinical research, Hajira has recently joined Tesaro, Inc, Waltham, MA as a Clinical Scientist. Hajira is a member of AMWA since 2010 and of ISMPP since 2010 and completed the CMPP earlier in 2014. Hajira has a keen interest in clinical research and development, strategic publication planning and competitive intelligence.

• Faculty: Donna Simcoe is Principal at Simcoe Consultants, a biomedical consulting company focusing on medical publication strategy and medical writing. Over the past 20 years, Donna has managed publications at Cadence, AstraZeneca, Wyeth and Cephalon. Donna holds 3 Masters degrees (Biomedical Writing, Biotechnology and an MBA), and is a CMPP. She is an active member in AMWA, ISMPP, TIPPA and CBI. Donna recently served as the Chair of the ISMPP U Committee (2013-2014) and is the current AMWA Pacific Southwest Chapter President (2014-2016).

• Faculty: Gary Burd is Senior Vice President, Global Medical Director at Caudex Medical with 12 years of medical communications and scientific publishing experience. Gary has led communication planning and publication planning activities in several therapy areas, including diabetes, solid tumour oncology, haematological malignancies, transplantation, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and respiratory and lung disease. Prior to his medical communications work he gained valuable editorial experience in journal publishing with Portland Press. Gary obtained his PhD from the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, London working on a monoclonal antibody therapy for systemic lupus erythematosus.

• Moderator: Charles Rosenblum is Associate Director, Global Scientific and Medical Publications, supporting Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease programs at Merck & Co., Inc. He has worked in the medical communications area since 2008. Prior to this, he was a drug discovery researcher working in pharma. Charles has been a member of the ISMPP U committee since 2011.
