Lord of the sheepfold, whose love is not for hire, who calls to himself the victims of the world: we thank you that Christ laid down his life for us when we could not help ourselves; in the weakness of his love give us strength to work for peace in the world he came to serve, through Jesus Christ, the good shepherd. An Easter Prayer for forgiveness & blessing

- About People -

Rae Hinton spent much of last week in Thames Hospital. Peter Eynon suffered a stroke last Wednesday. He’s comfortable recovering in Auckland City Hospital.

AM 431 We Have A Gospel

To Proclaim Edward J. Burns

1. We have a gospel to proclaim Good news for all throughout the earth; The gospel of a Saviour's name: We sing His glory, tell His worth.

2. Tell of His birth at Bethlehem, Not in a royal house or hall But in a stable dark and dim: The Word made flesh, a light for all.

3.Tell of His death at Calvary, Hated by those He came to save; In lonely suffering on the cross For all He loved His life He gave.

4.Tell of that glorious Easter morn: Empty the tomb, for He was free. He broke the power of death and hell That we might share His victory.

5. Tell of His reign at God's right hand, By all creation glorified; He sends His Spirit on His Church To live for Him, the Lamb who died.

6. Now we rejoice to name Him King: Jesus is Lord of all the earth. This gospel message we proclaim: We sing His glory, tell His worth.

Indaba Next weekend our Indaba five (Kate Jones, Paul Jennings, Winnie Sheehan, Graham and Jenny Colley) are experiencing hospitality and sharing at Ponsonby parish and a fortnight later at Huapai Cooperating LSM Unit. This is the continuation of the Bishops’ three-parish visit programme set up at last September’s Synod and due to take place during Lent. For our collection of parish units Lent didn’t work out for various reasons and the final two visits were shifted to May! The outcome will be discussed at a Southern Archdeaconry gathering towards the middle of the year.

You are the Good Shepherd and we are your sheep. We come in all shapes and sizes, all colours, personalities, quirks, and possibilities. In your generous welcome, you open wide the gates of community so all can gather in and know your love.

You see our need and respond with compassion: you reach out, and we are healed; you speak, and we follow your voice. Through your loving ways we are renewed as your people and made ready to serve you.

You gently remind us that not all your people are present. Some are absent because of health, some because of other obligations, and some have been kept out intentionally and unintentionally. Through your prophetic words bring us back to your way of hospitality Amen.

Sending Forth

SHC 49 The angels shine with more

Elizabeth J Smith than human light

1. The angels shine with more than human light, they see God’s glorious face beyond our sight— and this same God they serve is our delight. Alleluia!

2. The angels’ song is more than mortal praise, they shout for joy to see God’s endless grace— we, too, praise God, who loves our human race. Alleluia!

3. The angels know a truth we merely guess, they sit at Wisdom’s feet in holiness— and this same Wisdom is the one we bless. Alleluia!

4. The angels’ life is everlasting prayer, they taste the banquet that we long to share— and we pray, too, that God will feed us here. Alleluia!

5. The angels and archangels, now we bring, earth’s praises to the God of everything— with Christ, and in the Spirit, let us sing: Alleluia! Words reprinted under licence.

For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks,

its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth,

it would look like complete destruction.

You know us by name, O God, And your care for us is beyond all understanding. You will go with us as we leave the church.

In the paths of joy, you will celebrate with us. When hardship and testing are our lot, you will endure with us. When we are separated from your way or your people, you will bring us back. When our time passes into your time, your eternal love will come home to us.

Compassionate God, you are always with us. AMEN

NJ 76 Neighbours Refrain: Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love, show us how to serve the neighbours we have from you.

1. Kneels at the feet of his friends, silently washes their feet master who acts as a slave to them.

2. Neighbours are rich folk and poor, neighbours are black brown and white, neighbours are near by and far away.

3. These are the ones we should serve, these are the ones we should love, all these are neighbours to us and you.

4. Loving puts us on our knees, serving as though we were slaves, this is the way we should live with you.
