INTRODUCTION:YOUTH INNITIATIVE IN TEENAGE PREGNANCY CAMPAIGN CONTEXT AND SITUATION IN LAMPANG:
Lampang is located at the middle of the northern region with lots of domestic migrants from other provinces and passage way to other provinces. There are more than 20 education settings for young people i.e. vocational schools, commercial schools, secondary schools, and university. Part of young people stay alone or together in private houses or apartments.
In 2007 UNFPA supported survey on Lampang YSRH.
In 2008 UNFPA supported Lampang Provincial Public Health (LP-PPHO) to conduct survey on attitude of 1100 young people (Aged of 11-22 years) on Sexuality Education, Sexual Behavior and Use of Condom during 2008-2011.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
Create a supportive environment for young people who engaging in healthy sexuality.
Improve coordination among concerned sectors including health, education, youth, and local organisations
Establish youth friendly health services with the local authorities taking ownership of the process, through a local youth strategic plan
PROJECT TARGET AREAS/ INDICATORS/OUTCOMES
TARGETS:
o In 2 districts: Muang and Thoen
o 14 educational settings: 8 secondary schools and
6 vocational colleges
INDICATORS:
o Raised sexuality knowledge in youth group to prevent unplanned pregnancy
o Increased condom used of the last sexual relation in young people
o Availability of youth friendly services
OUTCOMES:
o Local Authority include YSRH in their regular plan
o Various channels to access youth friendly RH services
PROJECT PHASES AND PROCESS

Implementing YSRH campaign through school activities, peer educators, teachers training, friends’ corners, YSRH IEC contest, etc.

Establishment of Youth Friendly Services attached with all health settings
Knowledge Sharing among networks
Returning findings and results to local authorities for evidence-based policy development
KEY RESULTS AT THE END OF PROJECT:
• Availability of Youth Friendly Services in all hospitals and health centers in 2 Districts
• Set up referral service: school -health centers-communities
• Health-Education networks on Teenage Pregnancy
• YSRH IEC activities in schools
• Budget allocated for YSRH from local authorities
• YSRH plans included in all districts with budget allocated
• Budget contributed from the province
