Be sure to stop in the Display Building and check out these interesting units. Many have plows to demonstrate how versatile they are. Garden tractor exhibitors are welcome to demonstrate plowing with their tractors in our special plowing area.

Garden tractor collections are a fast growing hobby • Some are restored, some are original •

If you have garden tractor parts and/or plows for sale, swap spots are available in the Flea Market or can be placed on the auction.

SKI-DOO Snowmobiles SnOwmObIle DISplayS

Welcome Snowmobile Collectors!

It was 1959, Charles DeGaulle had been elected President of France. Alaska and Hawaii were now US states. Explorer 6 had sent back the first picture of earth from space. Up in Valcourt Canada, inventor Joseph Armand Bombardier was about to introduce a yellow snowmobile that would revolutionize winter sports. It would launch an industry and create a lasting legacy. It was the birth of the legendary brand called Ski-Doo. Ski-Doo would quickly become synonymous with snowmobiling and winter sports. It would also set the pace for the snowmobile industry, reinventing snowmobiling many times over with engineering and design innovations that made Ski-Doo the number one brand of snowmobile in the world.

It was a childhood dream, mechanically adept since his youth, Joseph by age 15 had built his first snowmobile. This particular sled was built out of a Ford Model T car. His father had purchased it for him being assured by the salesman that the engine was not repairable. His first ride on the snowmobile was December 31, 1922. By the age of 30 he was successfully building commercial snowmobiles. Although they were large and due to the weight of materials, heavy, it would take time before technology could catch up to his dream. Then in 1959 all of the forces came together, Bombardier’s dream took off, sales took off, dealers came on board, customers continued to buy, and the popularity of Ski-Doo was firmly established along with its signature yellow color. 1963 marked the beginning of a relationship that would leave a lasting imprint on the snowmobile world. A new engine was introduced, built to Bombardier’s exact specifications. Innovation was the company’s mission, constantly being on the cutting edge, design technology was their goal....a beginning of an era.

The Winnipeg to St Paul I-500 snowmobile race up until 1972 had been a battleground between Arctic Cat and Polaris, until the first and only Canadian, Yvon Duhamel would win the race on a Ski-Doo.

Yes, the Ski-doo has come a long way since that simple yet groundbreaking snowmobile in 1959. Oh, and did I mention they come in yellow?

JOHN DEERE 20 Series Tractors

320 • 420 • 520

Today many of these tractors can still be found working on farms like this 1957 620 owned by club member Ben and Donna Kuklock, that has been at work on their farm since 1976 (pictured above).

In 1956 John Deere introduced the 20 series tractors. Some new features were the Custom Powr-Trol hydraulics, float-ride seat and an improved cylinder head and pistons to increase horse power. These engines set five new fuel economy records at Nebraska Tractor Test. The “20” series tractor looks were improved also with the two toned green and yellow paint colors. The 320 was added to join the 420, 520, 620, 720 and 820 tractors built from 1956 through 1958.

Did you know Deere & Company sold bicycles? Twice .... first in the late 1800s and then from 1973 to 1975.

Models sold in 1894 were Deere Leader, Deere Roadster, and the Moline Special. Additional models introduced in 1899 were the Reindeer and Fawn. By the turn of the century, Deere was out of the bicycle trade.

In 1972, Deere re-entered the bicycle market with a line of Deere bicycles; these bikes were sold from 1973 to 1975, although some were sold only one or two years.
