the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. He buried him in Moab, in the

valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is.

Visit Madaba Church having mosaics of ancient Jerusalem.

Madaba Mosaic Map - The floor mosaic is located in the

apse of the church of Saint George Madaba. It is not

oriented northwards, like modern maps, but faces east

towards the altar in such a fashion that the position of

places on the map coincides with the actual compass

directions Originally, it measured 21 by 7 m and contained

over two million tesserae. Its current dimensions are 16 by

5 m.

Check into hotel and experience the Dead Sea swim (float) in the water.

❖ Dead Sea - which shimmers like a blue mirror under all -day

sunshine, is one of the most unusual bodies of water in the world.

It is set in the lowest dry land on earth, so it has no outlet. It is so

loaded with minerals that no fish can live in it. It is so dense that

for pilgrims, and monasteries and guest houses were established near it. Al-Maghtas in Jordan

shows the earliest religious structures connected with baptism or religious baths on the Eastern

part of the Jordan, but reverence shifted to the West bank after the Muslim Conquest. After the

Six-Day War Qasr el Yahud fell under Israeli occupation. Due to military activity and

excavations, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism established Yardenit in 1981 as an alternative

pilgrimage site. Yardenit became the first regulated baptism site on the Israeli side of the river.

Qasr el Yahud reopened in 2011. In 2015, the Unesco declared Al Maghtas together with Jabal

Mar-Elias (Elijah’s Hill) on the East bank a world heritage site. Renewal of Baptismal promises.

face, is traditionally regarded as the mountain on which Christ was tempted by the devil during

his 40 – day fast.

splendid mosaic about the miracle of the loaves and fishes, and then proceed to Capernaum to see

the Synagogue and St Peter’s house, the nearby Church of Peter’s Primacy where Peter was told

“Feed my lambs, feed my Sheep.

Take a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee. Later proceed Lunch.

Mt Of the Beatitudes - Located on a small hill overlooking the Sea of Galilee near Tabgha, the

Mount of Beatitudes is the traditional site of Jesus' delivery of the Sermon on the Mount, probably

the most famous sermon of all time.

Church of Peter Primacy - Jesus met again with the disciples for the "last breakfast." Here he

restored Peter to himself after the disciple's three denials by asking him three times if Peter loved

Jesus. Catholic tradition associates this event with the naming of Peter as the singular leader of

the church. The rock at left is the traditional place where Jesus stood and called out to the

disciples

Church of the Loaves & Fishes - Jesus and his disciples had gone out in a boat to this remote

place for some peace and quiet, but the crowds ran ahead "from all the towns" and met him when

he landed. By then it was dinner time and they were not in a village where food could easily be

bought, so Jesus fed them all by miraculously multiplying his disciples' five loaves and two fishes.

4

13-12-2018

Capernaum - is an ancient fishing village on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel. It is

home to a celebrated Byzantine-era synagogue as well as the house where Jesus healed a

paralytic and St. Peter's mother-in-law.

St Peter’s House – The church of Capernaum was founded on the traditional site of St. Peter's

home. Closer to the shore than the synagogue, the house was in a poor area where the dry-stone

basalt walls would have supported only a light roof and could have no windows.

Sea of Galilee - From the fishermen of the Sea of Galilee came at least four of The Twelve

Apostles -Peter, Andrew, James and John. Jesus stilled the raging storm on the Sea of Galilee that

was about to swamp their boat. Jesus, and Peter to a limited extent, walked on the water there.

Boat ride across the sea of Galilee.

Lunch and taste the Peter’s fish.

Drive to Cana, the village of Jesus' first miracle of changing water into wine; here couples may

renew their wedding vows.

Cana – It is the site of Jesus' first miracle of turning water into wine at a wedding. The lower

church has a chapel and a small museum with artifacts from the site, including a winepress, a

plastered cistern and vessels of various dates. One old jar is said to be one of the six jars used for

the miracle.

Transfer to Nazareth to visit the Basilica of Annunciation in Nazareth.

Basilica of Annunciation – Completed in 1969, this Catholic basilica stands on the traditional

site where the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would bear the Savior. It is built over

Crusader and Byzantine foundations.

Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.

DAY 06: HAIFA – BETHLEHEM (B/L/D)

Breakfast and then drive through the Jordan Valley to Mount Tabor, scene of the Transfiguration.

Drive through the Jezreel Valley to Haifa, to visit Stella Maris, a Carmelite Monastery with the

Madonna of Mt Carmel.

We travel via the coast to Caesarea, where the Romans held Paul prisoner.

Visit the Roman and Crusader ruins.

Church of Transfiguration – Located at the peak of Mt Tabor. It is the place of the

Transfiguration of Christ since the 4th century AD.

Mount Carmel - Mt. Carmel was most significant in ancient times as a barrier to traffic Along

the coastal plain. The 1500-foot high limestone mountain impeded armies and merchants traveling

to the Jezreel Valley.

Stella Maris Church - Perched at the western edge of Mount Carmel, high above the

Mediterranean and the coastal city of Haifa, is Stella Maris Monastery and church. The name of

the 19th-century monastery — Latin for “Star of the Sea” — refers not to the magnificent view,

but rather to an early title accorded Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we drive to the Shepherd's Fields where the angels announced the birth of Jesus.

Then we visit the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.

Shepherd’s Field - Caves where shepherds “kept watch over their flock” still abound in the area

east of Bethlehem. Here, the Gospel of Luke tells us, an angel announced the birth of Jesus.

Church of the Nativity - Entering the church that marks the site of Christ’s birthplace means

having to stoop low. The only doorway in the fortress-like front wall is just 1.2 meters high.

Dinner and overnight in Bethlehem

DAY 07: MT. OLIVES – GETHSEMANE – TEMPLE AREA (B/L/D)

After breakfast, proceed to Jerusalem.

We present an overview for a better understanding of its geography and some of the key sites

surrounding the area. This includes a dramatic view of the old city from the Mount of Olives,

revealing a city with 4000 years of history.

From this vantage point see much of what makes Jerusalem such a unique city to the three major

religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Visit the Garden of Gethsemane at bottom of the slope of the mount olives where it is believed Jesus

prayed to Father Hours before his crucifixion.

Church of Holy Ascension - It contains what is traditionally the last footprint of Jesus on earth

before he ascended into heaven.

Pater Noster - The Church of the Pater Noster is a Roman Catholic Church located on the Mount

of Olives in Jerusalem. It is part of a Carmelite monastery', also known as the Sanctuary of the

Eleona.

Dominus Flevit - Dominus Flevit is a Roman Catholic church on the Mount of Olives, opposite

the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem

Garden of Gethsemane - Early Christian pilgrims located the Garden of Gethsemane at the

bottom of the slope of the Mount of Olives opposite the Temple Mount. Byzantine, Crusader and a

modern church were built successively on the site where it is believed that Jesus prayed to the

Father hours before his crucifixion.

Lunch at local restaurant.

After lunch, we pass the Ecce Homo where Pilate proclaimed, “Behold the man”; then the Wailing

Wall, the most holy place for Jews.

At the Cenacle, we visit the Upper Room of the Last Supper.

The Last Supper – Jesus and his disciples, and the coming of the Holy Spirit on the disciples, both

believed to have been on the site of the Cenacle.

Next, we go to Domitian Abbey where we believe the Blessed Mary died.

Church of Dormition - The location is identified in Christian tradition as the place where the

Virgin Mary died — or “fell asleep”, as the name suggests. If the upper floor of the Church of the

Dormition is luminous, the circular crypt seems totally shrouded when first entered. In the center,

6

13-12-2018

under a rotunda, is a simple bier on which rests a life-size statue of Mary, fallen asleep in death.

The statue is made of cherry wood and ivory.

Church of St Peter Gallicantu – On its roof rises a golden rooster atop a black cross — recalling

Christ’s prophesy that Peter would deny him three times “before the cock crows”. Gallicantu

means cockcrow in Latin. The lower levels of the Church of St Peter in Gallicantu contain what

are believed to have been a guardroom and a prisoner’s cell, both hewn out of bedrock.

Wailing Wall – The wall and the plaza in front of it form a permanent place of worship, a site of

pilgrimage for Jews and a focus of prayer — often petitions written down and placed between the

huge stones. The Jewish name for the wall is the Kotel.

Dinner and overnight in Bethlehem.

DAY 08: OLD CITY – KIDRON VALLEY - BETHLEHEM (B/L/D)

After breakfast, proceed for tours.

Visit St. Anne’s church, the home of the Virgin Mary and her parents Saints Joachim and

Anne.

We trace the last steps of Jesus. As we walk along the via Dolorosa (way of sorrow), through the

markets of the old city praying the stations of cross, we reflect on the greatness of his sacrifice.

Finally, we arrive at the church of Holy Sepulcher.

Via Dolorosa - 14 Stations of the Cross as they identify with the suffering of Jesus on his way to

crucifixion. Their route is called the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrows). This is also the name of the

principal street they follow; a narrow market place a bustle with traders and shoppers.

The Church of the Holy Sepulcher – in the old city of Jerusalem covers what Christian believe is

the site of the most important event in human history; The place where Jesus Christ Rose from the

dead.

7

13-12-2018

Mt Sinai - also known as Mount Horeb or Jebel Musa, is a

mountain in the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt that is a possible

location of the biblical Mount Sinai. The latter is mentioned

many times in the Book of Exodus and other books of the

Bible, and the Quran. According to Jewish, Christian, and

Islamic tradition, the biblical Mount Sinai was the place

where Moses received the Ten Commandments.

St Catherine Monastery - According to tradition, Catherine

of Alexandria was a Christian martyr sentenced to death on the wheel. When this failed to kill her,

she was beheaded. According to tradition, angels took her remains to Mount Sinai. Around the

year 800, monks from the Sinai Monastery found her remains. Although it is commonly known as

Saint Catherine's, the monastery's full official name is the Sacred Monastery of the God-Trodden

Mount Sinai. The patronal feast of the monastery is the Transfiguration. The monastery has

become a favorite site of pilgrimage.

Back to hotel for breakfast and proceed to check out.

Visit the Burning bush and the chapel of Burning Bush.

Burning bush is an object described by the Book of

Exodus as being located on Mount Horeb. Accord ing to

the narrative, the bush was on fire, but was not

consumed by the flames, hence the name. In the biblical

narrative, the burning bush is the location at which

Moses was appointed by Adonai (God) to lead the

Israelites out of Egypt and into Canaan.

Drive pass the Red Sea, pass through Suez Canal to Cairo.

On arrival, check in hotel.

Dinner and overnight Cairo.

DAY 11: CAIRO B/L/D)

Visit Coptic Cairo, Virgin Mary and Abu Serge.

Abu Serge is the oldest church in Egypt dating back to the 5th

century A.D. The church owes its

fame to having been constructed upon the crypt of the Holy Family where they stayed for three

weeks during their sojourn in Egypt.

Visit the Virgin Mary, the hanging church. The most famous Coptic Church and monastery in

Cairo. The hanging church was named so as it was built by the Nile river over the Roman Gate of

Babylon. During a walking tour, our guide will point out that this section of the old city was the

route taken by Abraham, Joseph, Moses and the family of Jesus an inspiring thought.

After lunch, proceed Pyramid & Sphinx, then Khan El-Khalili Bazaar.

8

13-12-2018

Pyramid - The Pyramids were constructed to hide the tombs

of the Pharaohs. The first pyramids were step pyramids to

help the pharaoh climb the steps and join the sun god Ra in

the sky. After that (about 4,500 years ago) came the biggest

pyramids of all, the pyramids of kings Khufu and Khafre.

Until about a hundred years ago these pyramids were the

tallest structures in the world! No earthquake could destroy

them. They were each built of more than 2 million blocks of

stone, which each weighed about as much as a small

elephant.

The limestone coverings were stripped by later peoples for building use. In the pyramids

were a lot of false doors to trick grave robbers but they didn't work!

Sphinx - The Sphinx was carved over 4,500 years ago. It was for the Pharaoh Khafre. It had his

head, the body of a lion. The Sphinx was carved out of a huge big stone. It is guarding Khafre's

pyramid. The Sphinx was covered by sand which preserved it all these years. Its body is extremely

soft rock and its head is very strong rock but some people used the head for gunshot practice. No

one knows for sure what it was decorated with in the days of the Ancient Egyptians but it must

have been very beautiful then.

Khan El-Khalili bazaar has a reputation of being the largest Bazaar in the Middle East. The

bazaar district is one of Cairo's main attractions for tourists.

Dinner on Nile river cruise.

River Nile - The world's longest river, located in Egypt,

the Nile flows 4,132 miles (6,650 kilometres) northward to

the Mediterranean Sea (a very unusual direction for a river

to take). It was considered the source of life by

the ancient Egyptians and has played a vital role in the

country's history
