Industrial Revolution

In the past Iron and Coal, 1855–60, by William Scott illustrates the rise of coal and iron working in the Industrial Revolution and the heavy engineering projects they made possible.

ManufacturingTextile manufacturing is a major industry. It is

based on the conversion of fibre into yarn, yarn into fabric. These are then dyed or printed, fabricated into clothes. Different types of fiber are used to produce yarn. Cotton remains the most important natural fibre, so is treated in depth. There are many variable processes available at the spinning and fabric-forming stages coupled with the complexities of the finishing and colouration processes to the production of a wide ranges of products. There remains a large industry that useshand techniques to achieve the same results.

Spinning Machine This machine is an innovation in jacqua

rd loom industry. It can be applied to various fields, such as zipper ribbons, satin ribbons and chest ribbons.

Spinning Machine Two types of spinning machine:Mule spinning: The spinning mule is a

machine used to spin cotton and other fibres in the mills of Lancashire and elsewhere. They were used  extensively from the late 18th to the early 20th century
