Texas and Canary Islands

Somerset Academy, Inc. is the first school system in the nation to

The Jefferson County Story

For over a decade, Jefferson County School District experienced poor academic performance, financial problems, and had a 40% decrease in student enrollment

Jefferson County school board voted (at the encouragement of the State) unanimously to appoint Somerset Academy Inc. to operate local schools in July 2017

A vote that the Education Commissioner, Pam Stewart' called 'historic'

Jefferson County became Florida's first charter-only district

In the first year of operation Somerset Jefferson:

Gained back families that had fled the county to find other schools

Earned a 'C' for the elementary school

Earned a 'B' for the middle/high school

Earned an overall school district grade of a C – the highest grade since 2011.

Ranked 1st in the state of Florida in combined learning gains
