A new trapezoidal grille wears an enlarged Volvo iron markfor instant brand recognition whether its filling the rearviewmirror of the car in front or facing the rigors of a daily com-mute. For added distinction, the rear liftgate design, inspiredby the Volvo C30, is flanked by LED taillamps that illuminatethe full shape of the shoulder line.

Large 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels along with 9.1 inchesof ground clearance enable the XC60 to traverse terrain that would be impossible in a conventional passenger car. En-hanced Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC) isstandard along with a new feature called Trailer Stability Assist(TSA) that helps provide more stable driving when towing.

Continuing Volvos quest as a pioneer and leader in ve-

hicle safety systems, the XC60 introduces a new worlds first.City Safety is a driver support system aimed at preventing ormitigating collisions occurring at speeds of 19 mph or less. Itutilizes a closing velocity sensor to help determine whether acollision is likely. Depending on the closing speed, City Safetywill either pre-charge the brakes or automatically brake theXC60 to help avoid a rear-end collision or lessen its impact.

e XC60s cabin reflects the dynamic energy generated bythe exterior. Volvos signature ultra-slim center control panelreceives a fresh design with a new (optional) integrated navi-gation screen thats angled slightly toward the driver. Newlydesigned seats feature a pronounced X-theme to segue withthe XC Cross Country moniker. Volvos first panoramic roof

is optional, offering increased light and an open-air feelingwith two laminated glass panels.

e XC60 is Volvos first all-new carline to offer HD Ra-dio as standard equipment updating radio to digital quality.FM broadcast quality improves to the level of a typical CDwhile AM broadcast quality is improved to the prior level of

FM. e XC60s standard high performance sound system in-cludes AUX and USB inputs to allow connection and control
