White became Superintendent of the Louisiana Recovery School District in 2011, where he launched his "12 commitments” including overhauling failing schools in the RSD and establishing a unified enrollment system. White was named State Superintendent of education in 2012 and soon thereafter launched Louisiana Believes, a plan to put every child on the path toward college and career.
