• Sections of Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing Skills
• Optional essay
• Scale of 200–800 for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing & Mathematics in each of the two areas
• Total testing time is approximately 4 hours
ACT
• Measures skills achieved in English grammar & rhetoric, mathematics, reading and science
• Optional writing test
• Scale of 0 to 36 for each subject area and for the composite
• Total testing time is approximately 4 hours
Subject Tests
• Required or recommended by about 15% of selective universities and programs
• Measure of knowledge and skills in particular subject areas
• Five general subject areas: English, History & Social Studies, Mathematics, Languages, Science; a total of 20
• Complete after taking relevant AP courses
• Scale of 200–800 for each test –
700+ reflects a significant score
• Administered on select SAT test dates but cannot be taken same day as SAT

12th Grade
• For retakes, refer back to testing information from 11th grade, with the exception of the PSAT.
• With guidance from counselors and CIC staff, determine which tests and when to retake based on your college application timeline.
• Most colleges will need to receive the scores by December 1st for regular decision or November 1st for early action/decision. Students who plan to retake the ACT or SAT for early action or early decision admissions should schedule the test on the first available administration of senior year and will not be able to see scores before they are sent to colleges.

• Everyday Preparations – Acquire good study skills such as underlining, reading
critically different genres and showing steps in mathematics
– Be comfortable computing without a calculator – Develop good recognition vocabularies
• Learn GOOD test-taking skills – Know the directions ahead of time – Read the question carefully – Underline what’s being asked – Underline what is given – Use the test booklet as scratch paper – Check your work and your answer sheet
STUDENTS
• Use resources in College Information Center
– Words of the Day and Solve It math problem of the week
– Lunch time review sessions
– Individualized and small group tutoring
– Test copies, concept review sheets and more
– After school reviews
• Use College Board and ACT web-based materials
Use Khan Academy resources
Step 1:
Create a Khan Academy Account
► Log in to or create your Khan Academy
account
► Go to satpractice.org or khanacademy.org
► Click green button labeled “Start practicing”
► Sign in with Gmail, Facebook,
or click “Sign up with email”
► If you click Sign in with Gmail or Facebook,
enter in your username and password for
either of these accounts and you are signed in
► If you click “Sign up with email” Enter in
First Name/Last name/Email/Birthdate
and click “Sign Up”
► An email will been sent to your account
to verify; sign in to your email
► Open email from Khan Academy accounts
and click on the “Finish Signing Up” button
► A welcome screen will appear where you will enter
username and password and click “Sign Up”

► You have logged into

time and will be asked if
you would like to send
PSAT results
► If you already have a Khan
Academy account, a
prompt will appear asking
if you want to send your
PSAT results to Khan
Academy
► After choosing that option,
you will be directed to
collegeboard.org

Step 3:
Create a College Board Account
► Sign in to your College Board
account; if you do not have a
College Board account, click
'Sign Up' to create one.
► The steps for creating a
College Board account are:
► Click on the “Sign up” blue box
► Fill in the fields to create your
student account ensuring all
information is correct
► Click “Next” at the bottom
when all fields are completed
► You are now Signed In
Please note that students under 13 cannot create a College Board Account.

Step 3:
And Hit Send to Link Accounts
► After successfully logging in to
your College Board account,
you will be asked for permission
to link your accounts.
► After clicking “Send” you will
be redirected to SAT practice
on the Khan Academy site.
► You can remove the link at
any time, by clicking on
“Revoke” which is found in
College Board account settings.

STUDENTS Students review their performances after
testing on dates when the test booklets are returned (extra fee – SAT $18, ACT $20.00).
Test Information Release available: ACT: December, April, June
Question & Answer Service available: SAT: dates to be announced
Annotated versions are available. Students participate in post-test reviews. Students continue READING to improve
critical reading skills and to acquire a large, varied vocabulary.
