Academic Advisement Test Transfer Rules Overview
The Test Transfer Rules are the basis to evaluate transfer credits that may be accepted by the University of Nevada Las Vegas – UNLV. The setup and maintenance of the corresponding tables i.e. Test Component Table, Test Table, Test Transfer Rules, are responsibility of the Admissions and Recruitment Office team. The Degree Audit Analyst and Transfer Team will have view only access to the mentioned tables.

Prerequisites and Assumptions Before you can successfully perform the Test Credit Processing, it is either required or assumed that each of the following conditions has been met:

1.0 Academic Advisement: Test Transfer Rules This is another way to transfer external credits to the UNLV.
1.1 Test Component Table. Test Components are the subject areas of the test (examples: ENGC – English Language Composition, FR – French, etc.). These are linked to Test IDs in the Test Table. This section guides you through searching and creating Test Components.
Steps:
1. Sign in to the Student Administration system (Oracle/PeopleSoft Enterprise).
2. Navigate to Test Results: Home > Records and Enrollment > Transfer Credit Rules > Test Component

3. Use the Find an Existing Value Tab and leave the Test Component field blank to make a complete search. If you are looking for a specific Test Component, enter the available data in this field.
4. Check Include History/Correct History boxes as needed.

You can click on the Test Component link in the left column to access the respective data.
The steps 6-10 are responsibility of the Admission and Recruitment Office.
6. To add a new Test Component (after you verify it does not already exist) you can click the Add a New Value tab on the first view of the Test Component Table.
Or click the button on the last view.
NOTICE: if you forgot to check the boxes activating the action you are going to perform, you may use the yellow buttons in the lower side of the page (buttons are active according to your security permissions and the boxes checked on the previous view). If you have changed any field value,
remember to the page in order those changes take effect.

1.2 Test Table. Test Table is where you define Test IDs such as: AP, CLEP, ACT, SAT, etc. Test Components are linked to Test IDs in the Test Table. Steps:

21. In the fields under the intense blue row (yellow box), enter the effective date (01/01/1901), verify the “active” status, enter the description and the short description of the new Test ID (follow step 15 to add effective dates of rows for the current Test ID)
22. In the fields under the medium light blue row (green box), search the component(s) that you need to link to the new Test ID. (follow step 16 to add/delete Test Components linked to the current Test ID)

1.3 Test Transfer Rules. Test Transfer Rules include the equivalencies and the rule on one page. Although the system allows you to set up as many different test transfer rules as you wish, the system processes only two of the test transfer rules automatically. UNLV has decided to use only one Test Transfer Rules (TSTCR). The creation of additional ones will be a decision of the Unit Coordinator. Steps:
24. Navigate to Test Transfer Rules: Home > Records and Enrollment > Transfer Credit Rules > Test Transfer Rules.
25. Use the Find an Existing Value Tab and enter the Academic Institution (UNLV1) leave the other field in blank to make a complete search. If you are looking for a specific Test Equivalent Rule, enter the available data in this field or any information in the Description field.
26. Check Include/Correct/Case Sensitive boxes as needed.
27. Click on the button.

35. In the fields under the intense blue row (red box), enter the effective date (01/01/1901), verify the “active” status, enter the description of the new Test Equivalence Rule (follow step 28 to add effective dates of rows for the current Test Equivalence Rule)
36. In the fields under the medium light blue row (yellow box), search Test ID and the Component that you need to link to the new Test Equivalence Rule. The Equiv Component number is automatically generated
37. Edit the Min/Max Scores for the equivalence, and the correspondent Begin and End dates. (follow step 29 to add/delete Test ID and Components linked to the current Test Equivalence Rule)
38. Search for the correspondent Course ID in the green box (follow step 30 to add/delete the respective courses)
39. Click the button.

1.4 Program Test Equivalence. This table links the Test Equivalency Rules to the correspondent UNLV Programs i.e. TSTCR linked to UFP (undergraduate Fine Arts Program). Steps:

the other fields in blank to make a complete search. If you are looking for a specific Academic Program, enter the available data in the correspondent field or any information in the Description field. (in general UNLV does not use the Plan field for Transfer Rules related matter)

43. Click on the button. The Academic programs list will be displayed (green box).
44. Use the (below intense blue row) to add/delete Effective Date of Rows of the respective Program/Test Equivalency Rule link.
