Based on work ASTM D27 Committee on Dielectric liquids and Gases is doing right now, this will soon not be the case. New, unused oils will continue to fall under the D3487 standard, however any re-refined oil will fall under a new standard which is currently under development. For Engineers and Supply Chain specialists, it will be critical that they review their specifications to ensure compliance.
